2014 Roster/Record

2013 Regionals

Coach: Matthew Berry

Spring 2014 Schedule:

Barn Tournament : January 25, Iowa City, IA (IHUC and Hucititis-B)

The Barn was a great place to finally play against other teams after the long, dry spell following the fall season. Both IHUC and Hucititis-B played well and worked out some kinks. Sunday was a scrimmage versus the alums who made their way back to the U of I.

Liz Gronert of Saucy Nancy took some awesome action shots and managed to get the guys from all three teams to pose for a few pics during the weekend. Check them out here.

Queen City Tune Up : February 8-9, Charlotte, NC (IHUC)

Definitely could not beat the weather this weekend - low 60's and sunny. IHUC finished 4-3 for the weekend, broke seed to finish second in our pool to Harvard and held seed to finish 11th overall. Lots of great play. Check out Stoop Kid's post tourney write up for game-by-game details.

Midwest Throwdown : March 1-2, St. Louis, MO (Hucititis-B)

Finished 18th. Not yet playing consistently. We had our moments but definitely lost to some teams we could have beaten.

Old Capitol Open : March 29-30, Cedar Rapids, IA (IHUC and Hucititis-B)

Score Reporter

Near perfect weather (what's a little wind?) and great competition. IHUC finished 5th and Huc-B 14th in the Open Division. Saucy Nancy won the Women's title. Amazing photos by Don Rummelhart found here for Iowa Ultimate and here for all teams.

Fool's Fest : April 5-6, Lawrence, KS (Hucititis-B)

Fall 2013 Schedule:

Elephantitis : September 14-15, Grinnell, IA

Solid showing by rookies and the leadership of veterans and Coach Berry lead both X and Y teams to several wins. Alums forfeit a shot at the title to play against a combined IHUC team.

Nowisconsequences : October 12-13, Milwaukee, WI

Score Reporter

NoWisconsequences turned out to be an Iowa Ultimate kind of weekend. Saucy Nancy went undefeated to win the title. IHUC went 2-2 on Saturday, sitting out through long delays, then 2-1 on Sunday to take third place. Rookies and veterans played an integral part in every game. Huc-B went1-2 on Saturday to take third in their pool, breaking seed. Sunday was a tougher day with no wins, but some very close losses and a terrific battle back from a half-time deficit. All in all, both IHUC and Huc-B played as TEAMS despite this being their first tournament as such. The level of play, calm but intense, and the raw talent on display bode well for the year.

Rookies, veterans and alums at Grinnell

Don Rummelhart, father of two Iowa Ultimate alums, came up for Saturday and shot some amazing photos. Check them out here.

Missouri Loves Company : November 9-10, Columbia, MO

Score Reporter

The weather at MLC was phenomenal throughout the weekend, but our play was not as consistent. We had plenty of stellar moments, including a comeback on Wash U to universe point, and the potential is obviously there - we have athleticism, skills and determination. Coaches, veterans and rookies will spend the winter months pulling together all of the pieces before spring season starts. We went 2-4 in games that weekend and 0-1 in foot races against Iowa State to finish in 14th. Tim Strutzenberg's sister shot some great pics which you can find here.

2014 Alumni Weekend

Alumni Weekend: Shenanigans, Ultimate and Pics

A bunch of alums arrived and celebrated all that is Iowa Ultimate the weekend of October 31 through November 2. The most popular costume Halloween night was dressing as Ryan Nation (IHUC 96-99). Alums won the ultimate game on Sunday 15-9 despite the very best efforts of the current players.

A surprise appearance by Reptar, supporting cast member of Nickelodeon kids' cartoon Rugrats and ultimate enthusiast, likely spurred the alums to victory. Don Rummelhart brought his camera to capture the action and got some amazing photos. Take a look at those here.
