98 Polo

From Brian Hunt

98 Polos with a more understated ihuc logo. Shirts were blue and yellow. Back was just our numbers. I think most of us felt this was one of our favorite jerseys ever.

Stu's IHUC Bio from 1998 Nationals Guide

The Iowa Hawkeye Ultimate Club is proud to carry on the tradition of the team originally started by members of the Iowa Writers Workshop. Past ultimate team members have included: Tennessee Williams, Kurt Vonogut, Raymond Carver, John Irving, and John Cheever.

We are also proud to sport our mascot, the ihuc, on our team shirts. The ihuc is indigenous to the state of Iowa. Its name is derived from the Sioux word for "quick, intelligent, determined one." It is legend that the only animal to be successful in battle with the bear and the badger is the ihuc. We carry this proud animal's spirit on the field and are smashingly excited that its name doubles as the acronym for our club.

Jersey - 1998 Retro, 1999

From Doug Eglseder

I still have a polo in each color hanging in my closet. Haven't touched them in years, but I can't bring myself to get rid of them. For the record, the backs were blank until we qualified for nationals and found out we were required to put numbers on the back. We then sent them somewhere to get numbers printed on before heading to Blaine. I remember Schneck trying to buy the #17 off of me after I had dibs. No dice.

Spring 1998

College sectionals? At Nebraska? I remember someone going on a beer run in the middle of the day because there was absolutely no competition.
