Our God Yehovah is a holy God.
The holiness of God describes His perfect character.
And our Father in heaven wants each of His children to also be holy, just as He is holy.
In this way, we represent His true character on this earth and bring glory to His name.
To be holy is “To be set apart to do the will of God.”
This is our calling today, tomorrow and forever---our eternal calling.
When we live a holy life and do God’s will on earth, we fulfil our calling on this earth today.
We will then live a life that is pleasing to our Father in heaven and brings great joy to Him.
In Matthew Chapters 5 to 7, in the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus taught about the Kingdom of God and the character of the children of God.
In other words, these chapters teach us how to do God’s will and live in holiness.
In Matthew 5:3-12, Jesus taught on the 8 Great Blessings (or Beatitudes).
These 8 Great Blessings are given to God’s children whenever they walk in different areas of holiness.
A believer who is humble is given the Kingdom of Heaven today.
All the riches and blessings of heaven belong to Him today.
To be humble is to live in total dependence on God.
It is to live in total dependence on the word of God and on the Spirit of God.
A humble believer will daily acknowledge with his lips that he needs God in every area of his life, at every moment in time.
He will daily acknowledge that he needs the grace, mercy, and help of God to fulfil his calling on this earth.
He declares to God that without God, he can do nothing good or having anything good.
In His first message to Israel, while He was on this earth, Jesus said: “Repent, for the Kingdom of Heaven is near you (MATTHEW 4:17).”
This was also the first message of John the Baptist to Israel when he prepared the way for the ministry of Jesus.
All men have sinned (ROMANS 3:23).
And God has said that sin brings death and destruction, diseases and disasters into our lives, and every curse under the sun (DEUTERONOMY 28:15-68; ROMANS 6:23).
When Jesus did not reply to false charges, He was walking in meekness (MATTHEW 27:12-14).
To be meek is to not resist an evil person, and not to return evil for evil.
God says that the meek will inherit the earth.
When we walk in meekness, everything in this world will be our inheritance.
“Righteousness” can be defined as the “condition in which all men are doing the Father’s will,” on earth as it is in heaven.
Our God is a righteous God (PSALM 145:17).
And He wants all His children to be perfect like Him, always doing His will, always doing only what is right and good in His eyes (MATTHEW 6:10; 5:48).
To show mercy to another person is “to bless someone who does not deserve kindness from us, including those who deserve punishment from us.”
All men, including you and me, deserve God’s punishment for our sins.
In our sins, we have no right to any of the blessings of God.
PROVERBS 23:7 NKJ
7 For as he thinks in his heart, so is he.
God’s word says that as a man thinks in his heart, so is he.
In the spirit, we are what we think.
And in the natural, we will become what we think.
In the eyes of God, whatever we think is already done in the spirit.
If you think evil, you have already committed that evil, and you have sinned.
