Such is human nature, that if we were all hit on the head with a baseball bat once a week, philosophers would soon discover many amazing benefits of being hit on the head with a baseball bat: It toughens us, renders us less fearful of lesser pains, makes bat-free days all the sweeter. But if people are not currently being hit with baseball bats, they will not volunteer for it....

Our hope of immortality does not come from any religion, but clearly all religions come from that hope. thefirstimmortal
Aging and death do seem to be what Nature has planned for us. But what if we have other plans? thefirstimmortal
AdG: I want this change because it will save more lives than it costs. This question has been carefully analysed by experts and it’s clear that we are vastly over-cautious now in approving drugs. That over-caution is not the fault of the FDA or the government, because it reflects public attitudes: every death from an unsafe medical treatment causes an outcry and a lot of legal action, whereas we turn a blind eye to death from the unavailability of good drugs. But when aging is recognised as defeatable, public opinion will become more rational in this regard, and so will public policy.
(DC)
Why is it noble to want a cure for cancer, heart attacks, stroke, dementia, blindness, hearing loss, osteoperosis, or Parkinson's disease when it's so evil to want a cure for aging? It makes no sense!
