Hello fellow toastmasters,
Hope you had a productive and fun day! I was the general evaluator for today. The following is a summary of the meeting.
- Our new Sergeant-At-Arms, Yoyo Chang, started the meeting on time today.
- We had a full house today with 16 members and 3 guests (Makki, Annie, and Mr. Bruce).
- Our Toastmaster of the day, Margaret Yamamoto, guided us seamlessly through our meeting agenda. She did a fabulous job explaining the meeting agenda. We had a special guest give 2 speeches. We all had a chance to write down evaluations as well as a few toastmasters offer their evaluations impromptu.
- We only had to fill one position today. Trenton volunteered to read the mission statement. Thank you!
- Congratulations to our new members with their first roles for today! Ah-Counter Rick Liu, Timer Erica Arrechea, and Thought of the Day Robert Hoshida took their roles seriously. They demonstrated great listening skills and their delivery was thorough. Noel Dalmacio was our Grammarian and did a great job calling attention to creative language usage.
- The Speech Tip of the Day was given by Harry Yan, DTM. He continued his series of How to Captivate an Audience in the 1st 10 seconds. Today, he demonstrated that you can engage the audience with a short monologue. Bravo!
- We had a special guest speaker, Daniel Midson-Short. He gave 2 amazing speeches that he will be giving at the Toastmasters International Convention in Kuala Lumpur. Everyone had the opportunity to write their evaluations down for Daniel to take home to review. Best of luck to Daniel!
- Our fellow Toastmasters Ryan, Trenton, Dolores, Faye, and Erica gave impromptu evaluations of Daniel's speech. They all had insightful inputs!
- Our Toastmaster Fernando Reyes gave an entertaining speech about his travels abroad. He had a projector set up and ready to go without any distractions. His humor was contagious!
- Our Toastmaster Dana Conley gave an effective evaluation. She provided encouraging words and specific suggestions to improve. Great job!
It was a pleasure leading the Evaluations portion of the meeting for the first time.
I look forward to seeing you all next week! Make sure to sign up for the roles and bring your Competent Leadership manual so you will get credit for your roles. Click on the hyperlink, "Click Here" https://sites.google.com/site/tmclub219/.
