Dear Fellow Toastmasters,
As today's General Evaluator, I would like to share my summary of today's meeting with you.
Time: 12:00 - 1:00pm
Location: The leasing Center, Floor 1A, Villa Siena Apartment Complex
Present at the meeting: 17 members and 6 guests.
Today's meeting started on time. Doug Wheaton, the Toastmaster of the Day set a relaxing tone for the meeting by introducing us to some funny aspects of gambling on Super Bowl. All the members and guests were entertained right at the beginning of the meeting.
Tisha Templeton made the motion that General Evaluator was starting to take the responsibility to summarize each meeting in writing and email it to all the members. The motion was carried with unanimous consent.
Harry Yan talked about the integrity of the leaders in today's Tip of the Day. Next week, he will continue the topic on the four elements of leadership: Integrity, Respect, Service and Excellence.
Dolores Lara gave her Thought of the Day about Valentine's Day's origin and its change over the time.
Dana Conley got her Joke of the Day ten minutes before she came to the meeting. As a wine lover, she nailed the task by telling a joke about a wine lover.
The only prepared speech today was from Fernando Reyes. Although he was new to our club, he had finished six speeches from the CC manual at another Toastmasters club. His objective today was to research his topic but his speech"Survivor of the Mental Rabies" contained not only the information about symptoms of Rabies and the right reaction to dog attacks but also a great story with lots of humor and an unexpected twist at the end.
The Table Topic master, Eric Palermo, conducted a session of Moment of Truth. In this session, all members were encouraged to talk about what they thought about our club and pointed out the area they would like to see some improvement. Both old and new members participated. They provided constructive suggestion and expressed their love to Club 219.
Margaret Yamamoto evaluated Fernando's speech with the "Sandwich" method: overall positive view, some suggestion on the use of stage and gesture and final positive note on meeting the objectives of this project.
The Ah-Counter, Grammarian and Timer's reports demonstrated the ability of listening. All reports were thorough and helpful.
At the end of the meeting, the guests made positive comments about today's meeting and hopefully we will have a few new members joining our club soon.
I hope the momentum built up from today and last week's meeting will continue. Don't miss another fun meeting next Tuesday at the same time in the same room!
By the way, I think it is also a good opportunity for me to improve my written English so I would appreciate your correction or feedback on improvement :)
Regards,
Min Tang
