We had a full schedule with three prepared speeches. Rick and Karthik presented their Ice Breaker speech. Rick shared about how he overcome obstacles in his life by never giving up. Karthik shared on living life as a journey and not viewing it as a destination. Dolores gave an excellent 30 minute presentation--part 1 of a 2 part series revealing secrets for marketing ourselves to get a job in any market.
Noel and Margaret gave an excellent and encouraging evaluation of each of the Ice Breaker speeches. There was no evaluator assigned to Dolores' presentation.
Our meeting went very smoothly. Sergeant at Arms, Yoyo Chang arrived early to set up the room and assembled the audience at exactly 12 noon. We had 5 guests and a total of 16 people at the meeting. Sara Safari, our past club president was one of the guests. Sara visited our club to share about her quest to climb to the top of Mt. Everest in September. She very passionate about this project and is using this project to raise money for a charitable foundation that is supporting and educating lower caste girls in Nepal.
Richard did an excellent job moderating the meeting and kept the meeting running very smoothly. He directed us to skip Table Topics due to lack of time. Our timer, Yoyo keep us on track. Fernando was our Ah-Counter and our guest, George Scott volunteered to be the Grammarian. George listened attentively to each speaker and gave a very detailed report. A number of our members used the word of the day, "Laconic" throughout the meeting!
After the meeting, two of our guests (George Scott and Maki Kawasawa) joined our club. It was indeed another fun and productive meeting!
