Topic: Contrast between Islamic and western teachings
Summary:
West and Islam have different approaches to the issues. West emphasizes on enhancement of GDP Growth and per capita income, while Islam believes on fair distribution of wealth. Today West is more developed in materialistic terms as compare to Muslim Ummah, which created inferiority complex in Ummah. Actually this is not the case. In west, the value of a man is measured as per how much revenue does he generate? And is considered as a machine. Whereas, Islam judges the value and quality of man on the basis of TAQWA, and makes him a human being.
The glory of Muslims was based on knowledge. There actual progress was in field of knowledge, research and innovations which gave them height of success in all disciplines. Today, knowledge is as much necessary as it was at initial days of Islam, because pursuance of wrong knowledge is dangerous, and leads the nations to complete destructions, such as focus on GDP growth while neglecting other economic variables. During 1950’s and 1960’s Pakistan has experienced fantastic GDP Growth but its effect was negative, like increase in poverty, income inequality, unemployment.
So it is a dire need to be a group of economist among Ummah, which are able to tackle economic issues instead of Western Consultants like Harvard Advisory group.
