Thank you for all those who attended the 24th annual meeting of the International Gastrointestinal Electrophysiology Society held on the evening of 21 May at the Hotel Indigo in San Diego, CA. Investigators from the USA, Canada, China, Korea, New Zealand, Australia, and Japan converged to present and discuss the latest developments in the field of gastrointestinal (GI) electrophysiology.
The meeting was opened with a brief speech by the society’s vice-president, Prof. Jiande Chen (Johns Hopkins University), who pointed out that iGES is as strong as ever and continuing to grow in its 24th year. A series of 28 oral presentations were delivered throughout the evening, encompassing cutting-edge developments in measuring and modelling GI electrical activity, in addition to a wide range of electrophysiologically-based GI therapeutic approaches. Each presentation was followed by a lively Q&A session from the cross-disciplinary audience.
Congratulations go to this year’s award winners:
Jennifer Wellington (Alvarez Award)
Haruaki Murakami (Robert Stern Award)
Patrick Squires, Gao-jue Wu, and Rui Wang (Young Investigator Awards).
We thank Profs. Richard McCallum (President) and Jiande Chen (Vice-President), and all of the volunteers for organizing this meeting. We also thank 3CPM and FlexiMap for their commercial sponsorship of this event.
We now look forward to seeing everyone again at the next iGES meeting in Chicago in May of 2017.
