Call for Abstracts

Dear Colleagues and Friends:

The International Electrogastrography Society was founded in 1996 and our annual International Workshop was initiated in 1993. Due to financial hardship, we did not have our annual meeting during the past year. However, we would like to resume it and would like to invite you to attend the following meeting and submit your abstracts for oral presentation and possible awards.

    1. We will have a dinner meeting at Southern California Telemedicine Learning Center from 6:00pm to 9:30pm on Friday, May 18th, 2012 (the night before DDW meeting that starts on Saturday morning).

    2. Registration is free. However, we would like you to notify Jiande Chen via email <jianchen AT utmb.edu> if you hope to attend the meeting as soon as possible.

    3. Please submit your abstracts to us at <jianchen AT utmb.edu> in any format but not more than one page before March 20th, 2012. The abstracts will be reviewed for oral presentations and possible awards; however, they will NOT be published. If your abstracts are already accepted by DDW, you can still submit them to our meeting, but please indicate whether it is oral or poster presentation at DDW. If the first author of an abstract is from a student, fellow, post-doc or junior faculty (assistant professor or instructor) and you are interested in being considered for Young Investigator’s Award, please indicate in your abstract or in your email when you submit your abstract.

    4. The agenda of our meeting will be as follows:

      1. Oral and award-winning presentations

      2. Panel discussion on the role of electrogastrography. Dr. Kenton Sanders has kindly accepted our invitation to participate the discussion and will present their new data on extracelluar recordings and their interpretation of the EGG.

      3. State-of-art lecture on New Development in the Field of Electrical Therapies for Motility Diseases, Obesity and Diabetes.

      4. Business meeting of the society: the major topic will be on the change of the society name and re-organization of the society. Your inputs are greatly appreciated.

    5. Awards:

      • Alvarez Award (every abstract is qualified)

      • Robert Stern Award (every abstract is qualified)

      • Young Investigator Award (please indicate in the abstract that you are qualified)

Our list of email address is not complete, please inform any colleagues who may be interested in attending our meeting. Please also let us know your comments and suggestions for the up-coming meeting.
