the EAGE Near Surface Geoscience 2014 will be held at Athens on 15-17 September of 2014.

The EAGE Near Surface Geoscience 2014 in Athens has the innovation to be a multi-event conference where with the same fee everyone can participate the following events:

Two interesting field trips are organized in famous places that they are very much connected with geosciences, mining activity and archaeology:

• EAGE daily field trip to Lavrion (ancient mining activity and geophysical exploration there) and to Sounion Cape with the famous Temple of Poseidon
• HGU 3-day fieldtrip to Santorini Island (a place being a geological laboratory as well as one of the first touristic destinations of the world) with boat trip in the caldera, visits to Akrotiri archaeological site and Oia and final presentations:

  • Dr. Andreas Tzanis, Geophysicist, Associate Professor, National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, “Internal structure and contemporary deformation of the Santorini Volcanic Complex: A synthesis of Geophysical, Seismological and Geodetic observations”
