Player Responsibilities
Sign up for tournaments during the sign up period. Late sign ups are not guaranteed a spot in the tournament nor will they get any tee time/partner preference. If you sign up other players for an event, it is your responsibility to ensure that they are aware of their tee time(s).
Players should be ready to play 30 minutes before their scheduled tee time. All players are responsible for knowing their own tee times.
If you need to cancel a tee time after Monday evening, call the pro shop and notify the MoMs. If you are unable to meet your tee time commitment, contact the MoM ASAP. All communications with the MoM will be via email. Any notification after 6:00 PM on the Monday night before the tournament will be considered a NO SHOW. There are consequences for No Shows. Any member who is a no show for any event will not be eligible to play golf for the next four weeks.
Play ready golf. Do not play by the “Honors Code” when possible and safe to do so.
Use the continuous putting method, don’t keep marking your ball and waiting.
In non-tournament play, pick up when you have reached the Maximum Score Allowed or, as it is now: Equitable Stroke Control (EQS) . The EQS is a double bogey plus any handicap strokes that you would get on that hole. In tournament play, you must finish the hole. If you take a score that is above the EQS, you need to adjust your final score downward before entering it into the computer. Replace any scores that were above the EQS before posting. Example: you took a nine on a hole where your EQS was seven. Reduce your final score by 2 before entering it. In a competition with a fee, the player must enter a score earned on every hole. If you don't finish a hole or don't enter actual strokes, you are technically withdrawing from the event. If you exceed your EQS. You do not get to use your EQS as a correct score for the competition.
Limit the search for a ball to 3 minutes.
Each member of the group should monitor the pace of play. The group needs to keep up with the players ahead of them. KEEP UP TO THE FOURSOME IN FRONT OF YOU. The penalty for slow play will be for that foursome to be moved back to the last foursome of the day the next week.
Players should point out rule’s infractions within their group. If there is a disagreement, after the round, seek closure from one of the pros or the Golf Committee.
Don’t hit provisional shots. See section under Relief with penalties, new local rule.
The low handicap player in the group is the designated captain. The captain should help with pace of play and rules interpretation when possible. He is responsible to insure that a scorecard is completed, signed, attested and submitted.
Score cards should be neatly presented. If you are not using a preprinted card, please write both first and last names of the players. Cards must be signed by the scorekeeper and attested by another player for accuracy. Please read directions on preprinted cards. If the time clock is being used, remember to stamp your card when finished. Scores need to be entered into the GHIN system ASAP. Failure to do so may result in a disqualification. Place cards in the box labelled TKSMC located above the computer.
The choice of T for Tournament has been replaced by C for Competition. However, the Competition scores don't carry extra weight like the Tournament scores did. Therefore, according to the CSGA, local clubs can decide how they want their players to enter scores. Since there used to be so many mistakes, we decided to eliminate the C option. Rounds played at Tashua should be posted as HOME. Rounds played away from Tashua should posted as AWAY.
Abide by "Rules of Golf" as amended by TKSMC Local Rules
Show respect for the golf course and your fellow golfers. Observe proper golf etiquette, rake your footprints in bunkers, fill divots, repair ball marks on greens, etc.
AND FINALLY, POST YOUR SCORE. You have until 4:00 PM that day to post your score. If you have not done that, you will be DQ’ed by the MOM.
