LOCAL RULES - NO PENALTY RELIEF RULES

1. PREFERRED LIES: local rule-A ball lying in the fairway of the hole being played, may be rolled over using a club head, within one foot of where it originally came to rest, no nearer to the hole. This also applies to irregularities in the fairway such as, divots, sink holes, and damage made by maintenance equipment. Relief in the rough only applies to areas damaged by maintenance equipment. All other balls coming to rest in the rough, must be played as they lie, no rolling the ball over. Monitor your fellow players. There is no relief for wayward shots that come to rest on rocks, roots, or against trees. You either play it as it lies, or you may take relief with a one stroke penalty.

2. INTERIOR STONE WALLS (not exterior course boundaries) local rule: free relief. Taking relief: using the club with which you expect to play, take a stance and swing that allows you complete relief from the wall. Mark that spot with a tee and drop a ball within one club length from that spot, no nearer the hole.

3. CART PATHS: A ball lying on the cart path may be moved off to the nearest point of relief, plus one club length, no nearer to the hole. A ball lying adjacent to a cart path that interferes with your stance or swing, can be dropped on that side of the cart path, within one club length no nearer the hole.

4. EMBEDDED BALL: A ball embedded in its own pitch mark, in ground other than a hazard, may be lifted without penalty, cleaned and dropped as near the original spot as possible. No nearer the hole.

5. SAND TRAPS: Loose impediments may be removed from sand traps. If the bunker is not properly groomed, a ball may be lifted, the sand raked, and the ball replaced. Remember, you always have the option of taking an unplayable lie and drop your ball behind the bunker under a two stroke penalty.

6. BEE’S NESTS: If a ball comes to rest in a bunker close to a bee’s nest, relief may be taken. Make every attempt to remain in that bunker, or if necessary, an adjacent one.
