Visits
The society organises trips to visit places of interest, exhibitions and conferences. Members pay for shared transport and any entrance fees as appropriate - with the society obtaining group discounts wherever possible.
13th - 14th October 2017 - International Astronomy Show
The International Astronomy Show was inaugurated in 2013 and proved to be a great success - including a visit by HAS members. The next show will be held on Friday 13th and Saturday 14th October 2017.
The show has moved to Stoneleigh Park, Warwickshire (CV8 2LZ) - the old site of the Royal Agricultural Show.
We will put more details of HAS plans to attend the show here.
Information about the show and talks can be found here:
9th - 10th February 2018 - European Astrofest, Kensington
Several society members regularly visit Astrofest - ask at a HAS meeting about the show and conference to find out what to expect. There are no plans for a HAS organised trip at the moment.
Fri-Sat, 9-10th Feb 2018
Astrofest 2018
European AstroFest is the world's premier space conference and exhibition, bringing together the professional and amateur communities. AstroFest 2018 will be the biggest and best yet.
10th - 11th March 2018 - Norman Lockyer Observatory
The society is organising a weekend trip to the Norman Lockyer Observatory in March 2018. Further details will be announced at the November meeting.
Sat-Sun 10-11th March 2018
Norman Lockyer Observatory
Society weekend visit to the Norman Lockyer Observatory, the Lockyer Technology Centre (radio astronomy) and the Planetarium in Sidmouth, Devon. We hope to see its range of historic and modern telescopes, the exhibitions and a planetarium show.
We are planning to stay overnight in the area so that on Sunday we can visit the Herschel Museum in Bath on the way home. This would also give us the possibility of a Saturday evening observational session at Sidmouth.
