Introduction

Welcome! This week we are diving into the world of telecommunications, a type of communication that happens when transferring data between two points using the Internet. Follow the sequence to complete this weeks assignments. Check out this video on social media, a type of telecommunication!

Assignment Progression

1. Read chapter 8 pages 161-194, when the book points at a type of telecommunication tool, connect to the Internet to explore the tools for the purpose of enhancing learning or teaching.
2. Blog Question 1 pg 194: which of the telecommunication tools discussed in the chapter would best fit your communication style? Why? Share and discuss at least 3 options.
3. Blog Question 2 pg 195: which of the telecommunication tools discussed in this chapter would work best for teaching physical education? Why? Share and discuss at least 3 options, explaining the circumstances
4. NASPE Group project (create page on website): You will join the NASPE group by following the directions within the Leight book pages 79-87. Share your knowledge on your website
   1. In stead of printing things out, you can take a picture of your screen to show you completed all the questions. Follow the instructions on page 81.
   2. This assignment does require you to post and respond. Post early so you can receive a response!
   3. The postings are due Friday - responses are due the next friday.
5. Podcasting project (create page on website)
   1. After reading the chapter you should have an understanding of what a podcast is and hw you could use a podcast in PE.
   2. Visit our podcasting webpage which will give you more insight on creating a podcast.
   3. Visit Kevin Morrows PE blog, a PE teacher who uses podcasts to enhance learning in PE. Review his blog and watch at least 3 different podcasts to have a idea of why he uses podcasts in PE.
   4. With a partner or alone, create a short podcast you can use in PE. Follow the project guidelines from the Leight book on page 123-131. On our podcasting webpage a step by step process is included to help you with the process.
   5. Create a podcasting webpage on your website
   6. Add an introduction, description of project, upload or provide link to your podcast, reflect on the creation of the podcast and reflect on the use of podcasting in PE. Connect your reflection with your readings in your book and your experiences reviewing Kevin Morrows podcasts in PE.

Time to spend on Project:

• Reading the chapter + complete questions 1-4 above can be completed within class time.
• Podcasting project will take about 2-3 hours to complete depending on the length of podcast you wish to create
• The above must be completed by Friday night.
