Once you download picasa on your desktop it will upload all pictures you have on your computer and organize them in folders and years. Picasa doe NOT store pictures, it is simply a feature that helps you organize and edit pictures.
When you can, take a few pictures and upload these to picasa. If you do not have a camera, you can upload pictures from my Google Plus or simply use the pictures you have.
Include at least:
a picture of you being active
a picture of you teaching
a close up of you - smiling and professional
a picture with a class mate
If you have pictures on google + you like to import to Picasa, click FILE, import from Google +
For me to see that you can tag, tag at least one picture using my name (even if I am not in the picture)
Edit one of your pictures in 4 different ways to create 4 new pictures - save and show all those pictures on your project page with a note by each picture sharing what type of editing you did.
You first need to share your pictures from picasa onto google + by clicking the picture and clicking "share on google +" at the bottom
Next you will need to go to your project page, click edit, click insert, click picasa photo, find the photo and click insert.
If you do not see the picasa picture that means you did not share it on Google + with the group (picture need to be viewable)
Make sure you explain what type of editing you did to your picture!
In settings you can play around with what you collage should look like: picture pile (you can move pictures around as you wish), mozaic is more streamlined
MOZAIC Examples:
PICTURE PILE Example:
Options for collages: Here are the options you can chose from:
A teaching collage (pictures of you teaching) - you could use this on the top of your google website as a banner
A collage of pictures of you being active - can be used within standard 1 if a good reflection is provided
A collage of who you are for your "About me" Page
If you want to crate a collage for your border of your website (like I did - see top of page):
Create a collage using picture pile
Put pictures inside it that show you in a professional way but also in an active way - portfolio is who you are
Create your collage in such a way that the pictures are on one line to create a border
Create collage
Edit - crop the collage so you do not get the entire page but only the strip
Export (at bottom) - use 800-1024 pixels (you may need to play around with this #)
In the Export box you can put a trademark to it, your name for example. But you don't need it.
Go to your site
Method 1:
Click EDIT, MORE, EDIT SITE LAYOUT
Click on top bar / header
Select custom LOGO
upload your collage
Center it
Click OK to see how it looks.
Method 2:
Click EDIT, MORE, MANAGE SITE
Layout
Header
Select custom LOGO
Upload image
Center it
Click review
if you don't like it, you can change it.
Upload or embed your collage to your project page, make sure I know where you placed it - if you are not adding it to the project page but perhaps to your blog or a different page, provide a link to the collage.
You can create a slideshow by opening a folder and clicking play. It will automatically create a slideshow for you
If you want a combination of pictures you will have to create a new album, add pictures and then press play.
You can insert a slideshow into your google site by clicking EDIT, INSERT, PICASA SLIDESHOW, Pick your folder and it will create the slideshow with the pictures in that album and embed it.
Make sure you have a few pictures in a folder, go to your project page and insert a slideshow.
For example, I have a folder for EDU 355, so I clicked that folder and you can see how the pictures show into the slideshow below.
Creating a Movie
Watch this tutorial on creating a movie in Picasa:
An interactive tool you can add to your portfolio is to create a video of all your experiences you have had during your time at Cortland.
To do this, you need to have the pictures you like to include on your picasa. If you need to get pictures from EDU 255, EDU 355 from my google + pictures, you can right click and save your pictures on your computer for your own use.
