Horry County Schools recently entered into a contract with a new electronic waste (E-waste) vendor, Powerhouse Recycling, that will be properly disposing of and recycling the electronic waste generated in our schools and other facilities. These electronic items still contain materials that can be repurposed and recycled beyond the product’s useful life and it is actually against the law to dispose of these items in landfills. Electronic waste includes items such as desktop computers, laptops, monitors, keyboards, mice, televisions, overhead projectors, printers, copiers, scanners, CDs, etc . If you suspect something may be considered electronic waste and needs additional attention for disposal, please just ask!
Powerhouse Recycling is able to service each individual location for the pickup of electronic waste. The inventory, maintenance, and building services staff will no longer be collecting, transporting, and storing electronics. A work order request should be made for the “Pickup” category when at least one, packed, pallet-sized pickup of product has been accumulated. Please complete the “asset disposal” form recording all items to be disposed of and attach a digital copy of this signed form to the work order. Please make an effort to reduce the number of pickups needed at your location every year by collecting and recording all technology assets for disposal at the same time.
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Trevor Turner - 843-488-6721.
