Promoting Programme Understanding through Supplementary Reading
Description:
In this workshop we will look at boosting understanding of a curricular programme, in our case the MYP, through a carefully designed supplementary reading programme. We have found a way to increase our library circulation numbers at an age when many students are 'turning off' reading. Through creative categorization and engaging assignments and celebrations, we have seen reading for fun taking off again.

Biographies:
Mark Patton
is the MYP Coordinator and Language A English Learning Leader at the Canadian International School (Singapore). Previously he has worked in Guatemala, Turkey and China. He holds a B.A./B.Ed from Lakehead University in Thunder Bay, Ontario and is an IB moderator and workshop leader.
Lisa Patton
is the Lead Teacher Librarian at the Canadian International School (Singapore). Previously, she was the Director of Library Services at the American School of Guatemala and Assistant K-8 Principal at Tarsus American College in Turkey. She holds a B.A from Lawrence University, MAT from National Louis University and Library Certification from Indiana State University.
