Guided Inquiry in action.
This presentation outlines an inquiry unit developed in 2008 for Year 10 International Studies classes by a team at a Melbourne independent school.
It was inspired by the work of Dr Ross Todd and Dr Carol Kuhlthau at the Centre for Scholarship in School Libraries at Rutgers University, New Jersey.
In planning and evaluating the unit, consideration was given to the following questions:
How can we relate this unit to real-world issues and foster deeper understanding and independent learning skills?
What instructional interventions are required?
How can we demonstrate student learning and areas of improvement?
How does this unit contribute to our school as a learning organisation and our understanding of models of professional learning?
