Papandayan
Papadayan is one of the most beautiful volcano
area easily accessible from Jakarta, via Garut & Bandung
From Garut, head South-East to Cisurupan, a village situated between Cikuray, a beautiful cone shape volcano, and Papandayan.
In Cisurupan, turn right to take Jalan Kawah Papandayan. A lot of ojeks will propose their services at this point, you can also go on by foot for 1h30. The jalan leads you directly to the Papandayan car park at exactly 2000m. A fee of 15k is payable by foreigners.
It is possible to camp there, it's quite pleasant in the small wood and water is available at the mosque next to the car park.
The crater is really stunning with a green lake, fumes everywhere, even a dead forest and a large meadow ideal for camping [Pondok Salada] with a view on all the area. Gunungs are surrounding the crater.
I recommend you to do a loop following the trail on your right until you find a road leading to the village of Guru Mukti. Climb up to Pondok Salada, then go down by the dead forest [you cannot miss it] and eventually visit the fluorescent green lake.
