Climbing Indonesian volcanoes
Gunung Api, means Mountain of Fire or Volcano in the Indonesian Language.
Climbing volcanoes is a popular sport among local students, and it is considered also a spiritual journey with a link to the country Hindu roots.
To convey the meaning that such climbing through wet jungle tracks, leeches and unforgivable rains, is most of the time a pleasure when the top is reached, we decided to nickname our website Gunung Happy.
Because Gita was working in West Timor, (Indonesia), there is a special section on Kefamenanu, the capital of Timor Tengah Utara [TTU].
