Mangu
One of the least famous summit in Bali, culminating at 2020m,
is situated in the "lakes" region. The lakes region in Bali is West of Mount Batur, covered by 3 large lakes [Bratan, Buyan, Tamblingan] and has a botanical garden at 1400m. The Gunung Mangu itself has quite a large temple complex on top called Pura Pucak Mangu.
First I took a Perama open ticket return from Kuta to Lovina. This allows me to stop anywhere at will, and even sleep for free in some Perama hostels. It's a great deal. I stopped few days each in Ubud, Bedugul and Lovina, and slept in Perama Lovina guest house, all for 140k.
During my stop in Bedugul, I got quickly bored, as there's absolutely nothing to do around there. While visiting Bratan lake, I spotted a trail going up the Mangu summit and I took it. I didnt know there was such a lovely temple on top.
The trail is quite easy and rewarding with great views on the lake area, and on Bali in general. After 2h, I reach the top and the temple complex.
A bit further away, there is Gunung Catur which is the highest in the lake area at 2100m
Ascent: 2h
Descent 1.30h
