Hotkeys (shortcut keys) are key combinations that allow me to perform a function on my computer without using the mouse. The advantage in using the key combinations is that it is often faster than executing the corresponding mouse function. Each program often has its own combination keys that are used as hot keys. This does not make it any easier for the user and often even scares users off. In addition, Windows and Apple do not have the same key combinations. It's worth delving into the hotkey combinations I often use. I can also make my own hotkey combinations for programs or handlings I often do on my laptop.
The advantage of using shortcut keys:
It works faster than a computer mouse (saving time)
Fewer actions required, so more efficient
Less concentration (effort) is required (Mouse I have to 'find' and 'aim' exactly in the menu)
It is also better ergonomically because I put less strain on my mouse arm
Has a preventive effect against RSI
It can promote recovery from RSI by reducing the load on the mouse arm
By using shortcut keys I develop my motor memory (with which I also remember pin codes) :-).
They are often indicated in the functions in the menu as an alternative. Another option is to enter 'Keyboard shortcuts' in Help in the program and I will get a list of shortcuts for the relevant program. Do I want to save time, be healthier at the computer and train my memory? Then I have to learn some shortcuts for the programs I use the most.
