30-Hour Ultra & Relay
Hi Ghost Train Runners!
It's hard to believe Ghost Train weekend is almost here! We're looking forward to welcoming you for 30 hours of running, camaraderie, and perhaps a few questionable decisions about how many miles are enough!
This is our longest event, and there's quite a bit of important information to share. Please take a few minutes to read through this email, particularly the camping instructions and seventh-lap rule.
Race: 30-Hour Ultramarathon & 30-Hour 7-Person Relay
Location: 1 Mason Road, Brookline, NH (Camp Tevya)
Camping Setup Opens: Friday, October 16 at 3:00 PM
Parking & Bib Pickup Open: Saturday, October 17 at 7:00 AM
Race Start: Saturday, October 17 at 9:00 AM
Race Ends: Sunday, October 18 at 3:00 PM
Please carpool if you can! Parking is limited, and every shared ride helps.
If you're running fewer than 100 miles (six or fewer out-and-backs), this rule does not apply to you. Your out-and-backs are the normal 15 miles each.
If you start a seventh out-and-back, it MUST be 10 miles, turning around at the designated 100-mile turnaround. This applies to individual runners and relay teams alike, including anyone who decides to continue farther than originally planned.
Here's how the distance works:
Out-and-backs 1โ6: 15 miles each (90 miles total).
Out-and-back 7: 10 miles, using the designated 100-mile turnaround (100 miles total).
Out-and-back 8 and beyond: Back to the regular 15-mile distance.
The 100-mile turnaround will be clearly marked. Don't worry, you'll see it!
If you run the full 15 miles on your seventh out-and-back, the extra 5 miles will not count toward your recorded distance.
Why? Our timing system requires everyone's seventh out-and-back to be the same distance. We'd hate for anyone to run five extra miles for nothing, especially after the first 90!
Camp Tevya is generously allowing our 30-Hour runners and relay teams to set up their campsites beginning Friday, October 16 at 3:00 PM.
Please do not arrive before 3:00 PM! We need time to prepare the area before welcoming everyone.
Camping Information Form: Required
If you plan to set up a campsite, please complete the 2026 Camping Information Form before arriving.
Runners who have completed the form will be admitted for setup first. If you haven't completed it, you'll need to wait until everyone who has registered has been admitted.
Campsite guidelines:
Runners may set up a 10ร10 canopy or similar-sized shelter.
If you also have a sleeping tent, please try to find a location where it can go behind your canopy.
Stake down your tents and canopies VERY WELL! We've had tents attempt to take flight across camp on windy days. We prefer our runners to travel the course, not their tents!
Setting up Saturday instead? No problem!
There will still be room for you. However, unlike Friday, you won't be able to drive directly to your campsite on Saturday. Be prepared to carry your equipment or bring a cart.
All campsites must be completely broken down, and everyone must be off Camp Tevya property by 4:00 PM on Sunday, October 18.
The race ends at 3:00 PM Sunday, so runners staying until the end will have one hour to finish packing up and leave the camp property. Please plan accordingly, and consider breaking down some of your campsite earlier if you'll be running until the final minutes.
Camp Tevya is incredibly generous in allowing us to use their facility, and they need time to close everything up before dark.
Need more time to rest or recover? You're welcome to sleep in your vehicle in either the parking area across the street from Camp Tevya or at the school on the opposite side of Route 13.
We appreciate your cooperation in helping us maintain our wonderful relationship with Camp Tevya!
You may leave drop bags at Camp Tevya and/or have them transported to the Milford turnaround. You're welcome to use both options!
Camp Tevya: You may leave a drop bag under our race canopy at Camp Tevya, where it will remain throughout the event.
Milford DPW: You may leave a separate drop bag to be transported to the Milford turnaround. These bags will be brought back to Camp Tevya after 1:00 PM on Sunday.
You'll find signs near bib pickup indicating where to leave bags for each location. Please make sure you put yours in the correct area!
Important: If you send a bag to Milford, plan accordingly. It won't return to Camp Tevya until after 1:00 PM Sunday, so keep anything you might need earlier in a separate bag at Camp Tevya.
Please bring a reusable cup! We're working to make our aid stations as cupless as possible. You'll want something for your drinks, whether it's soda, Tailwind, or something warm when the temperature drops.
Period products will be available at all aid stations.
Temperatures can drop significantly overnight, especially when you're tired and moving more slowly.
Please plan ahead with appropriate clothing and consider keeping extra warm layers in your drop bag. A dry shirt, warm jacket, gloves, or hat can make an enormous difference in the middle of the night.
We'll also have gloves, hats, blankets, and hand warmers at the Power Lines Aid Station for runners who need them.
We expect everyone to come prepared, but we also know that sometimes plans don't survive contact with New England weather. If you've misjudged the conditions and find yourself cold and miserable, please ask for help!
If you're able, please consider bringing a few nonperishable food items, period products, or personal care items for our local food pantries.
Times are tough for many families, and even a small donation makes a difference.
The Brookline Food Pantry has a helpful list of needed items. They already have plenty of canned tuna and beans, but there are many other items they could really use!
Thank you for helping us support the communities that welcome Ghost Train every year.
We still have a few volunteer openings, particularly overnight and on Sunday.
If you have a friend or family member who might be interested in helping out, please direct them to our Ghost Train Volunteer Page.
Our volunteers are what keep this train running, especially when the rest of the world is asleep!
We'll have Ghost Train ball caps and beanies available, along with great merchandise from our friends at Marathon Sports and Move Free Designs.
Payment options:
Ghost Train merchandise: Cash
Marathon Sports: Cash or credit card
Move Free Designs: Cash or Venmo
Don't forget the spaghetti dinner! The Brookline Community Church puts on a delicious dinner on Friday, October 16. It's a great way to kick off race weekend!
We couldn't put on Ghost Train without the generous support of our sponsors. Please show them some love!

Haunted Night 30-Miler
Hi Ghost Train Runners!
It's hard to believe Ghost Train weekend is almost here! We're looking forward to seeing you, but first, we have some important information to share. Please take a few minutes to read through this email so you're ready when the train rolls into town!
Race: Haunted Night 30-Mile
Location: 289 South Street, Milford, NH (Milford DPW)
Parking & Bib Pickup Open: Saturday, October 17 at 2:00 PM
Race Start: Saturday, October 17 at 4:00 PM
Sunset: 6:03 PM
Please bring a headlamp or other suitable running light. Sunset is at 6:03 PM, and the trail can get dark earlier in wooded areas. Even if you expect to finish your first 15-mile out-and-back before sunset, we strongly recommend being prepared to run in the dark.
Be ready for cold temperatures overnight. Conditions can change quickly once the sun goes down. Dress in layers and consider keeping an extra warm layer in your drop bag at Milford so it's there when you need it.
We'll have gloves, hats, blankets, and hand warmers at the Power Lines Aid Station for runners who need them. We expect everyone to come prepared, but if you've misjudged the weather, please ask for help. We don't want anyone out there miserable and cold!
Canopies, personal tents, and camping are not permitted at the Milford DPW. There will be space for drop bags, including extra clothing and anything else you may need during the race.
Pets and open flames are also prohibited at the Milford DPW.
Please bring a reusable cup! We're working to make our aid stations as cupless as possible, and we want you to be able to enjoy drinks along the way. Please carpool if you can, too. Parking is limited, and every shared ride helps!
Period products will be available at all aid stations.
I'll be at the Milford DPW cheering you on from the start until at least midnight, and I'm working on putting together a 1980s-themed atmosphere with music and a little retro fun. If you'd like to join in, feel free to dress for the decade! Leg warmers, neon, and questionable fashion choices are welcome, but please keep your running comfort and safety in mind. Participation is entirely optional!
And while we're going back to the '80s, there's no need to hit 88 mph. You're already running 30 miles on purpose, which is wild enough. Great Scott!
If you're able, please consider bringing a few nonperishable food items, period products, or personal care items for our local food pantries.

Relay runners: You are responsible for arranging transportation between the ends of the course. Be sure to coordinate with your teammate, hand off car keys if needed, and make sure everyone knows where the car is parked. It's much easier to find your teammate than to summon a ghostly locksmith!
