30-Hour Ultramarathon and 30-Hour Relay Email
Hello runners!
Here is a quick summary so everyone arrives at the correct race on the correct day at the correct location and at the correct time!
Race: 30-Hour Ultramarathon/Relay
Address: 1 Mason Road, Brookline NH
Parking Opens: 7am Saturday
Race Start: 9am Saturday
If you haven’t read the race handbook, I’d highly suggest you flip through it so you know the basics about the race, the course, and lots of other details
Here are some rapid fire items!
NO open flames, including fire pits and Solo stoves. Jet boil, etc are OK. Fire pits will be maintained at aid stations if conditions allow.
NO pets with the exception of service animals per state and federal guidelines.
- Please bring food for the local food pantries if you’re able to do so. Here are some ideas!
- Speaking of food - don’t forget the Friday night Spaghetti supper! Cash and Venmo accepted.
- Also speaking of food - we continue to do our best to offer various foods for various dietary requirements, such as vegetarian, vegan, gluten free, and of course offerings for our full-on carnivore friends! If your needs are very strict or specific, feel free to reach out with questions or talk to the aid station captains. We are still an aid station in the woods, so if you’re still unsure or have severe allergies, we do recommend safe packaged foods that don’t risk trace cross contamination.
- Bring your reusable cup and help us reduce the amount of waste!
- Volunteers - we could probably use a few more, especially around cleanup and late night. Thank you!
- Period products will be available at the aid stations or near the banks of porta potties. Look for changing tents next to porta potties (that you can also use to change in) to find the products. (We need to keep them out of the weather somehow!)
- Parking for each race opens 2 hours before race start. Please don’t arrive early as we won’t be staffed to assist you.
- Carpool an minimize number of cars on site if you can - it helps us with our parking footprint and makes it less likely that people starting at Camp Tevya will have to park near or across from Rt13. Let’s keep everyone safe please!
(Are you bringing an RV? Stay at Field & Stream RV Park down the road! Mention promo code GHOST for 10% off any booking in 2024!)
- 30-Hour Race and Relay runners can set up at Camp Tevya starting Friday October 18th at 3pm. Please don’t arrive early!
(Runners are allowed a 10x10 tent or similar. If you have a 10x10 and a sleeping tent, please try to find a location where your sleeping tent can go behind the pop-up. Also be sure to stake your tents down VERY WELL! Tents have been known to sail across camp on windy days.)
- Drop bags can be dropped at either Camp Tevya to stay or separately transported to the Milford turnaround. You'll see signs near the bib pickup for both.
- 30-Hour Race/Relay runners must all turn at 10 miles on your 7th lap. You won’t miss the turnaround point! You’re welcome to keep going farther after that to get 115, 130, etc miles.
- For those individual runners that finish 100 miles or more, you can buy a 100 Mile Finisher buckle from Adam Dodge. Cash or Venmo is accepted. I believe they are $50 per buckle. (Thanks Adam!)
- Camps MUST BE BROKEN DOWN, and OFF CAMP TEVYA by 4pm Sunday. The camp is extremely generous to us but would like to close up before dark, and we honestly want to get home, shower and sleep! You are absolutely welcome to sleep and recover in your car across the street in the parking area there, or at the school on the other side of Rt13.
- Steve Hill is collecting used TRAIL running shoes if you have any that are in reasonable condition.
- Jay Kramarczyk is offering the use of his heated outdoor shower and hot tub! He’s at 4 Mason Road (the intersection of Mason Rd and Potanipo Hill Rd), just look for the signage. The shower is enclosed with a bench for changing. Bring your own towel and shampoo/soap. Bring a bathing suit if you want to use the hot tub
(and be sure to shower first!). Donations are welcomed and will be contributed to Ghost Train to help support the trails! See our Facebook group for more information. Thanks Jay - you rock!
- Swag will be available - Ghost Train ball caps and beanies, plus amazing stuff from Move Free. Order from Move Free ahead of time if you want to guarantee sizes and stock. Use code “GHOSTTRAINPICKUP” to save shipping costs when you pick up at the race! Move Free may accept Venmo, but cash only for Ghost Train ball caps and beanies. Heck, cash is always a good bet!
(Don’t forget about our Cafe Press store too!)
Lastly, please be polite and thank all our volunteers. They are all at the race to support YOU and are doing it for free. If you have a problem, want to yell at someone, or have any other concerns, ask an aid station captain to give me a call.
Any other questions? Read the website, the Handbook, check out our Facebook group, or drop me an email.
Thank you to our sponsors!
