Happy Summer! Now that we are hitting the thick of it, with temps hitting somewhere between the mid 90’s and a lava pool from one of Dante’s levels of Hell, it’s time to race and train! There are at least three major events happening in the next couple of weeks (Notchview, Jigger Johnson, and the Vermont 100), and if you are running, pacing, crewing, volunteering, or otherwise involved, good luck and have fun! Oh, and stay hydrated!
This is a great time to talk to friends about Ghost Train. It’s too early for that, you say? I’d argue this is a great time to make sure you have pacers and crew, or maybe share how much fun it is to volunteer at Ghost Train. Volunteer signups will open by the end of July. Keep an eye on our Facebook group or web site for more information.
You are registered for the 2024 Insert Race Name Here and hopefully your training is going well. If you haven’t visited our web site lately, we have videos of the course, course records and participation dating back to 2009, and of course the handbook which covers all the questions you may have! (Or at least I hope it does!). If you have questions that aren’t covered in the handbook, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me at ghosttrainrace@gmail.com or post/comment on our Facebook group.
For those running the 30-Hour Ultra and Haunted Night 30-Mile Races: if you know you won’t be able to attend the race, please consider those on the wait list and either drop from the race via UltraSignup or by emailing me at ghosttrainrace@gmail.com. (Relay team members – please contact your team captain if you need to make a change) I’m always sad to hear when a runner drops, but please know that your donation to the Conservation Commissions of Brookline and Milford help maintain and improve the trail, plus someone will be able to join the race and train without the uncertainty of getting in. This may be the first year we don’t clear the wait list! If you know someone who wants to run either of those races this year, I’d highly suggest getting on the wait list ASAP, as it is first on first let in to the race. Plus, I do reserve the right to close the wait lists if I feel we have more runners than we are likely to let into the race.
Thank you to our sponsors!
