4. Get BBB, GBB, and wrestling sports boxes ready and on layout.

5. File first 2 Trojournals in cabinet. Make a new folder.

A: Paint: How I created the October cover in Paint and what I had to do to import it on InDesign. (Give an "easy" assignment that will take about an hour.)

B.The Gimp 1. basic photo editing of brightness, contrast, and color saturation, 2. how to remove a time stamp or other distraction from a photo, 3. creating a cutout background. (Give an "easy" assignment that will take about an hour.)

Kennedy:

A: Photography: turn on camera, use presets such as sports, using the automatic setting and changing the ISO to stop action, controlling depth of field

B. Downloading and arranging photos on the hard drive.

Taygan:

1. Explore InDesign shortcuts. Teach others to use the most important ones.

2. Find short InDesign videos like this inDesign basics video or this more advanced video on using layers. Assign the best of these videos for others to view.

Choose several short projects that would help J1 and J2 students expand their use of InDesign. Consider, for example, these tasks: Create a Magazine callout (Newspaper Pull Quote), apply a decorative drop cap, or wrapping text around images and graphics. There are several ideas at this web site. If you explore, you'll find others also.

*See the Credit Sheet. Fill it out as we watch a My Three Sons classic, "Deadline." This is one grading method we'll use.

*Review style

-for months and days. Abbreviate all months that have more than five letters. Write out months of five letters or fewer. Ex. Oct. 6. April 6.

- for numerals. Write out zero through nine. Write out any number that begins a sentence.

-For names. On first mention, use title, first name and last name. After that, use LAST name only. Ex.: Principal Dr. Paul Ogle (first mention). On second and following mention, use only "Ogle."

*As a whole group, discuss story ideas.

*J1: Continue Taygan's layout practice.

*J2: Plan issue 2 and start writing questions for stories. Don't forget the following:

- lead editorial

- column idea

- sports assignments (feature of news story idea for each sport and who is in charge) ex. Kylee on football

- Will Brie continue with sports box? Korey on brag board? Etc.

Important stories to cover:

-Mr. Anderson extended absence. (This could be turned in to a depth story. 1. Mr. Anderson's perspective: What happened? How is recovery coming? How long is the anticipated recovery? What are you learning? 2. The sub: What's it like to step in with no passwords or plans? 3. Tresilyn: What did is take to make the show go on in Mr. Anderson's absence? 4. Other students - Q&A interview: What things have you needed to do or are you needing to do to cope with Mr. Anderson's absence. 5. Teachers: Does someone other than you know your passwords? Where to find lesson plans?)

-Musical story and photo - Musical is Nov. 9 and 10.

- Followup on trap shooting.

- Has scholars' competition begun?

-Halloween plan (bats graphics? feature ideas)

-Notice that you'll need a lot of feature ideas.

Consider a double truck on the decline of what we had once believed to be anchors of modern American society. November?
