A. Share in groups the intros to analyses: Read the best in each group.

B. Angle of Vision self review

1. Look at your analysis and determine areas that were difficult to write about. For example, do you need to improve word choice, or should you re-examine sentence structure as a technique for modifying a reader's angle of vision? Review your own descriptions and check to see if you can add other a of v techniques.

2. Examine your annotated descriptions. Have you highlighted your use of word choice, fig lang, sentence structure and added or omitted details?

3. Re-read your analysis. Does your intro catch attention? Does it provide an umbrella for all the ideas you will discuss, including the "so what"? If not, revise it.

3. After the peer rewrite, revise your own paragraph 1 again.

4. Using what you have learned from your peer rewriting experience on paragraph 1, revise your own paragraph #2. Then invite your partner to rewrite that paragraph.

5. Using your partner's rewrite as a guide, revise paragraph 2.

HW: Read again the assignment sheet for the angle of vision assignment. Then read the analysis portion of Rachel's Max's and John's A of V papers and answer the following questions: 1. Do all three analyses discuss ways to use word choice, figurative language, added and omitted details, and sentence structure to create a positive and negative angle of vision? If not, who has left out one or more methods? 2. Do all address the "so what" that was mentioned in the assignment sheet? 3. Do any of the introductions indicate that the writer will address the "so what"? If so, which one(s)?

Wednesday, 9-18

1. Introduce the analysis (part B). Discuss answers from Monday's homework.

Peer rewrite A of V paragraphs in class. Directions: Choose a partner to Revise A of V paragraph 1 to make it show and not tell. See below.

1. Using this Grading Guide, evaluate either the positive or negative paragraph of one of your peers. 2. Then, starting with a clean sheet of paper (or screen), REWRITE the peer's paragraph, using the showing techniques we've discussed in class. The idea is that you will maintain the peer's purpose but offer stonger word choice, more vivid images, better sentence fluency and better choices about what to omit or include in the paragraph. Your peer will do the same for you. If you don't finish in class, use your school email addresses to email each other.

HW: *Do the remainder of p. 44 on A of V handout.

Using the peer reader's rewrite as a guide, rewrite paragraph #1 angle of vision. Due end of block Friday.
