Practical info
School venue:
The school will be held at the Faculty of Science, Kasetsart University, Bangkok, Thailand.
There will be a staff to guide you on the first day.
Student posters:
You can bring a poster showing your research. It can be related to plasma and fusion, or it can be anything else that will allow other participants know more about your work and foster conversation.
Computers:
For group discussions, it is recommended that you bring along a notebook computer. If possible, please install a data analysis software such as Matlab or Excel in your computer ahead of time.
Useful backgrounds to have:
- Study material about GOLEM to help you get ready for the remote experiment
- Electromagnetism: simple electrical circuits (resistor, inductor, capacitor), Joule effect (responsible for the ohmic power heating a tokamak plasma).
- Ideal gas law (to determine plasma density from the gas pressure)
- Thermodynamics (to calculate plasma energy content)
We recommend you check out Georgia State University Hyperphysics website http://hyperphysics.phy-astr.gsu.edu/hbase/ to brush up on these topics.
