Part II
A small black starship races across the sky. It’s id tells the traffic controllers that it belongs to AIRGEN, immediately giving the ship priority over any other craft. It passes over the disembarking passengers of the various space liners and elegantly comes to a halt above an imposing building.
Outside the landing circle stands many business attired individuals. The near quiet landing of the Kakana sends chills down the spine of executive Lars. He was not expecting a project review this quickly and for that person to be the personal Secretary to the CEO, Lars fears his career will be cut short.
Standing beside the nervous executive is a confident man, a sly smile across his face. Dressed in a shirt and decorative tie, he only grudgingly agreed to even that simple formality. Dr. Boltar has worked for many companies but he still only minimally participates in traditions and wardrobe rules. He waits for the Secretary to disembark, holding back his impatience.
The Kakana has perfectly black skin with no seems or imperfections. An entrance folds open, almost materializing as it emerges from the ship. Several body guards step from the craft, followed by a well dressed Thracian of the CFed. [The Thrace and the Akkadian colonists are both Type I humanoids, aka: Human, with similar features.]
Executive Lars speaks. “Secretary Faben, it is a pleasure to meet you. I look forward to showing you the progress we have made...”
Interrupting Lars, Secretary Faben says. “Yes Exec Lars, your progress is known to me, you are an efficient manager. BUT, my visit does not concern you, I have no intention of performing a review.”
“Mr. Secretary, I’m not sure I understand.”
Dr. Boltar also interrupts, saying. “Don’t worry Mr. Lars, the Secretary is here by my request. I apologize that I did not go through proper channels to communicated with the CEO but my project’s security status precludes some subterfuge.”
The Secretary walks briskly past the awaiting executives and Dr. Boltar. All fall in line as Lars and Boltar flank him. The Secretary asks. “Doctor, the CEO sent me personally because your claims could monumentally change the value of this company over night. I hope, for your sake, you were not exaggerating.”
“No Mr. Secretary, I would say I was under-estimating the value of what I found.”
Executive Lars looks across to Dr. Boltar, a look of malice crossing his face. “Mr. Secretary, what is this special project Dr. Boltar is speaking of. I have no knowledge of a project overseen by him. I must also confess, the request for him to be here when you arrived was more than odd. He is just a professor at the university, correct?”
The secretary never once looks at either Lars or Boltar but walks with a purpose to his destination. “Executive Lars, your skill as a manager will not be questioned today. You were chosen for this assignment because you dutifully perform your job and only your job. Dr. Boltar was given a grant for a thesis he presented and would seem to have made a break through.”
“Mr. Secretary, I have more than a break through, I have found evidence to support my theory. When we arrive at the ancient ruins, I have something incredible for you.”
“Ancient ruins?” Executive Lars begins to speak but quickly stops.
