REAR ANTI ROLL BAR LINKS ALTERNATIVES ; ROBIN / RIALTO

Many thanks to Neil Ashton from St Helens who sent me the following info regarding the rear anti roll bar links .

{ Hi Fifer,

Just thought i’d share with you and other Reliant owners a direct fit replacement for the rear anti roll bar links on Robin and Rialto’s .

I have a 1992 Robin and almost completed repairing/ restoring it, I found the rear anti roll bar and links were worn and perished so set about trying to obtain replacements.

However, you can no longer get rear drop links for Reliant’s ( identical Reliant anyway )

I have matched the dimensions ( inc. Offset ball joints ) for our beloved Robin’s / Rialto’s and found that

* Honda Accord mk7 1998 to 2002 front anti roll links are a direct replacement.

HONDA ACCORD Mk7 1998 to 2002 FRONT ANTI ROLL BAR LINKS ARE A DIRECT REPLACEMENT BUT ARE UNKNOWN AS TO EFFECT ON SUSPENSION AFTER A GOOD FEW MILES . Many thanks to Neil Ashton from St Helens for the photo .

I refurbed my anti roll bar, fitted new bushes and fitted these Honda Accord replacements.

FIT NEW ANTI ROLL BAR RUBBERS AT THE SAME TIME AS FITTING THE LINKS MIGHT BE A GOOD IDEA . Many thanks to Neil Ashton from St Helens for the photo .

When fitted, they sit a good ¾ inch away from the chassis, and the links are exactly the same length as originals.

They are of standard type ball joint similar to the front track rod.

I haven’t driven the Robin over any distance with it being a “ work in progress, however, have driven the Robin locally along some uneven / bumpy roads without adverse knocks or issues.

I also removed the wheels again and checked everything to make sure the anti roll bar hadn’t moved and that the links wasn’t fouling on anything.

Up to now it all seems good, although I would recommend replacing the anti roll bar bushes at the same time to eliminate any play in the anti roll bar.

Overall.... i’m more than pleased with the result. }

...........

If the first results found by Neil are as good as they appear and some higher mileages are done , then this could be a godsend for Robins and Rialtos with damaged links unless standard links become available again .

* I have since bought a pair of the suggested links from e-bay seller " suspension -parts "
