Sensei Buckland I just wanted to say I truely enjoyed your classes at this years Summerfest.
If I lived nearby I'd be trying to figure out how to get into your classes.
I'll be working on staying out of my opponents firing line.

Believe me Robb Buckland you and Ian Marshall were standouts in the J.L.A.K.S.
(Joe Lewis American Karate Systems)
Joe was proud of both of you and would be proud that you are coming together carrying on the tradition
of J.L.A.K.S. just as he left it, no changes, no additions.
Pure J.L.A.K.S. earned directly from the years of committed study you and Ian undertook.
You continue to honor Joe with your ongoing study and dedication.
Robb you are a dynamic, exciting instructor in J.L.A.K.S. !

Your Fight scene is AWESOME !
The Editor who cut 'Karate Kid' and 'The Crow' edited our film.
Thanks for making 'Anatomy of the Tide' even better, Robb.

Again your training has proven itself in battle.
At the police academy last week during our Mechanics of Arrest Restraint and Control (MARC) class,
when chosen for a scenerio drill,
I was to extract one of the instructors from a car and place him under arrest.
I placed him in a arm bar using the door frame for leverage and pulled him through the window,
while maintaining control using a wrist lock.
The instructor tried to turn on me and hook strike me (and this is all LIVE drills, full speed) ,
I blocked his strike and then went in full out BEAST MODE!!
I drove him into the ground and drove skip knee into the side of his head and neck
and placed him into a choke hold to gain compliance.
You should of seen the shocked look on his face when I got both hands behind his back and cuffed him.
He didn't know what happened to him after he got rocked!
I again, want to thank you so much for your time invested in me.
You have given me the confidence to know that when it comes to survival, I will go home to my family.

When I met you last December I was going through great transitions in my life.
i was there in the middle of nowhere (Soux Falls, SD)...
and you were there working hard in the gym.
I was running away and was most afraid,
My mom had just died, and I was recently divorced..... Do you remember?
Blessings to you from Mexico City, Your words and teaching has changed my life.
You gave me confidence and direction.
I have never had such happiness and success. ...and yes I'm still doing my pushups.
Thank you for touching my life Robb !

I follow your posts and wish to express my deep condolences for passing of your master.
You should to know I am both inspired and touched by your words.
I have kept my training alive and expanded far beyond what I ever knew martial arts to be.
Life, family, science, food, medicine and love are all the practice.
I've aquired knowledge from ayurvedic medicine and western myofascial massage.
It can restore the tissues of the body, removing scar tissue,
and promote muscle elasticity and tendon length.
I hope to share this knowledge with you next reunion, or sooner should you find yourself in NYC.
I will be an embodiment of the knowledge that I champion.
It is with great pride that I say,
" I was broken, but through wisdom and love, I will yet become whole"
Thank you, my friend and teacher.

You've innovated and inspired !!!
It's kind of funny, that even after all of the "professional" and organized training,
it those backyard / parking lot / off-to-the-side at a seminar moments, that have truly left their mark.
You're a great man Charlie Brown =)

YOU have inspired me....
In the very short time we spent together in Maine
I still hear your voice as you would "Do your Thing" each morning and win those folks over.
You have my gratitude and thanks.
I am a better person for being around you and taking in your
words of encouragement when I was almost being booted out the door.
Your kindness and generosity of which I will always be grateful and will remember.....
Yes Mr. Buckland, you have made a lifelong impression on me and
I send my acknowledgement and many, many blessings and thanks.
Warm regards...
Stan
In regards to my friend and one of my black belts, Robb Buckland,
He is more than qualified to execute any activities involving a martial arts fitness project.
You will discover this when you work with him as I did, almost thirty years ago when we met.
My reputation speaks for itself.
I came from the fitness world and became the first martial artist to become a world champion
in two separate sports, karate and kickboxing.
I've done it all, films, TV, books, magazines, camps, public speaking,
and I know what it takes to make any project a success.
After working together with Mr. Buckland for several decades,
I strongly support and recommend him as the top candidate for your choosing.
His unequivocal qualifications can only be surpassed by his natural charm.

Seminar review June 2008 Karate College
F.E.A.R.S. with Ian Marshall and Robb Buckland
These guys are very good.
Marshall and Buckland have different backgrounds, but share a reality / reflexive take on self-defense.
Use what you already know, just enhance it. "Innovate don't Immitate".
They also emphasized using application from kata/forms,"Art Meets Reality."
Buckland says that you'll typically learn three positions (stances):
Bill Wallace-style side stance for lead leg kicking, an elongated boxing-type stance,
and what he termed a "Mike Tyson" or Sanchin stance.
He emphasizes being able to "fight in a phone booth" and move with a "Fluid Posture".
Lower body defends lower body, upper defends upper.
It left a good impression that they know what they're doing.
There's some good seminar footage on YouTube if you want to check them out.
My friend and associate Robb Buckland has conducted martial art seminars for many of my Camps.
Robb has always drawn rave reviews from the students in attendance.
I consider him a 'world class presenter' .
I can highly recommend Robb for any martial art / fitness assignment he wishes to undertake.

Robb Buckland combines training in the fundamentals with innovative fighting styles.
He is always looking for new, cutting edge approaches to defensive and competition aspects,
while incorporating those approaches into the traditional style of Uechi Ryu.
He is both a student and teacher of the martial arts,
always researching, designing and incorporating new ideas and methods.
He has an incredible ability to teach across number of levels and age groups,
from beginners to up-and-coming top notch fighters.
'Robb is not only a teacher, practitioner and coach, but also a mentor '
He trains his instructors to be teachers and assistants as well,
a true testament to his devotion to the growth and continuation of martial arts.
Robb has an amazing amount of knowledge, talent, and experience in martial arts.
His instruction is world class.
Robbs' martial arts classes are a great learning experience as well as a great workout.
But above all of his martial arts credentials, he is the best role model anyone could have.
He brings an enthusiasm and energy to the class that motivates and pushes you to be your best.

He has been one of our outstanding members.
He is knowledgeable regarding the theories and principles of the martial arts,
and is proficient in their use. I would recommend Robb.
He is a spokesperson / authority,
capable of authentic representation of the martial arts and fitness.
Robb is well spoken and presents a fine image for our industry.

As a martial artist for 40 years,
I have had opportunity and pleasure of working with Robb many times.
He is one of the most well rounded martial artists I have encountered,
having the ability to integrate the best of many systems into his seminars with ease and continuity.
Robb's ability to present his marital arts knowledge through his seminars is entertaining,
fun, very effective and through, never losing focus of the lesson being taught.

I have worked closely with Mr. Buckland over the past 11 years in a variety of capacities,
Mr. Buckland's ability to lead a class is exceptional,
he possesses a superior ability to inspire and teach a variety of subjects.
His wealth of knowledge is second-to-none.
His passion for learning, results in his continual evolution and improvement as a teacher.
Where some rest on their laurels and past accomplishments,
Mr. Buckland constantly looks to raise the bar.
He epitomises "leading by example"
He is a senior Black Belt in the Joe Lewis Fighting Systems,
considered the Ivy League of the martial arts.
He is dedicated and meticulous in all of his endeavors.
Mr. Buckland is a highly disciplined and motivated self-starter and a person of integrity.
Dennis J. Campo

I have trained with Robb Buckland extensively in the late 1980s and early 1990s.
Robb was the most eclectic martial artist in our area.
He was quick to share his experiences in the marital arts to our small community.
As a result of meeting Sensei Buckland,
I have to trained extensively in Uechi Ryu karate, American Kenpo, Yoshitsune jiu jitsu
and in the Joe LewisFighting system,
Sensei Buckland was the first local martial artist to crosstrain extensively in other systems.
He then taught us to integrate these systems into our martial arts repertoire.
I am now very strongly influenced by these experiences in my own teachings.

I've been training with Robb Buckland for the past 3 years.
I've learned more from Robb than than in many years of other martial arts.
The training makes sense, it works with your natural body flow.
It creates a systematic response that your body will react to in distress.
I work in corrections and am surrounded by constant danger.
Keeping my guard up is a very important factor.
With the training I have received with Robb's system,
I walk into the correctional facility with confidence.
I know that I will return to my family safely at the end of my shift.

Robb Buckland is a great instructor with a great attitude.
Robb motivates me when I struggle to keep up and does an amazing job keeping the class fun.
He has great technique and works right along with you.
Robb's demonstration is clear,
easy to follow and you can see how much he enjoys the art of kickboxing.
Kickboxing has changed my life, it is a very important part of my life now
It keeps me physically fit, cardiovascular, flexibility,
muscular endurance and strength in body and mind.
I get to hit things hard, that is good stress reduction.
" I LOVE MY NEW LEGS AND ARMS"
I never leave my workout disappointed, I am alert and full of vigor.
Robb is such a professional, smooth , quick on his feet, precise, controlled moves.
I love to watch him workout and teach others.
I have learned so much in the short time i have taken lessons from Robb.
I AM STRONG, AGILE, BALANCED, COORDINATED, FAST,
Ready for any emergency.
