Beamish Staithes Public House was located in the Beamish Staithes area of Fatfield. This was the name given to the area of the riverside on the north bank of the Wear just north of Chatershaugh and can be seen on the 1857 map below. This, and Fatfield staithes slightly further down-river, was where the old wagonway from Harraton Colliery arrived at the river. It is believed that the area derived its name from it once being the terminus of the Beamish Wagonway. The modern-day Bonemill Lane follows the line of this wagonway and it can be seen entering the map below on the left, Beamish staithes are bottom-centre.
