2/5/2016 The Big Field Mike Lupica, 2008

I love this book. This book has an amazing story line line to it. If you love sports books with a little bit of drama then this is the perfect book for. There is a ton of

suspense while reading this book. It send you on a emotional roller coaster with all the feelings between Hutch and his father. This book shows the feelings that

can get heated between two or more teammates of each other on a sports team. After the championship, all is well between the young man and his father which

brings the roller coaster to an end.

1/8/2019 Boy 21 Matthew Quick, 2012

This book is about a senior named Finley, a white boy from a troubled family who has a strong passion for basketball and truly loves his girlfriend Erin. Finley’s

goal is to leave this trouble town and start off a better life with his girlfriend. At the beginning of the basketball season a new person named Russ arrived. He is

a basketball phenomenon, whose parents had recently been murdered. Russ is traumatized and only answers to the name, boy 21. He believes he is from outer

space and was sent to earth by aliens. The head basketball coach wanted Finley to become best friends with Russ and watch over him. They end up having a

close relationship and can relate in some aspects. The author does a good job of showing you the different types of characters and showing how they change

throughout the story. I’d recommend this book to anyone who enjoys basketball and a little bit of a relationship.

1/30/2012 Gym Candy Carl Deukee, 2007

I believe that anyone who likes sports stories would find this to be a good book to add to their collection. The author of this book knows his stuff when it comes to

football. This book not only tells a good football story but also shows you how a young football player struggles with problems. Ether it being him trying to take the

#1 running back spot or trying to overcome his steroid problem. Oh yea, I have a little disclaimer for you. DON'T read this book if you are offended by steroids.

Other than that it is a great book, so enjoy!

1/24/2012 Heat Mike Lupica, 2006

I highly recommend Heat by Mike Lupica. I promote this book because the story does not only contain numerous baseball analogies and stories for avid sports fans,

but also has a heart-touching story about a twelve year old boy. This heart-felt side of the novel leaves you finding yourself deeply emotionally impacted by what the

boy is going through. You end up being on the boy's side in the situations he is going through and truly routing for the best to happen for him in the end. The combination

of the exciting sport settings and environments along with a surreal feeling of the life the boy is surrounded by makes this book all the more interesting. This book is able

to touch a much wider variety of readers. Generally, this is a great book for young readers who are not only sports fans, but for those also that love a heart-warming story.

5/31/2013 Last Shot John Feinstein, 2005

If you like sports, especially basketball, then this book is for you. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys sports fiction and mystery/ suspense type books.

This book is fairly short and an easy read. It's full of action and suspense and it's very realistic in terms of the sports world. This is probably one of my favorite basketball

books that I've read.

1/10/2018 Left End Scott Dick Friedlich, 1955

Left End Scott is not a modern sports novel by any means, however, it is all but outdated. Scott Carlisle is a new University student, and faced with the threat of fraud

he must fight to prove his credibility. The author tears the reader as he delivers intense moments of anguish as Scott fails and feels the pain of failure. Additionally, the

author brings feelings of sympathy by frequently putting Scott’s friend, Ferdinand in awkward and unpleasant situations similar to that of any normal person. I felt that the

characters are rational and reasonable in their actions, making the book not seem outdated as its writing seems almost ahead of its time.

1/9/2019 The Million Dollar Throw Mike Lupica, 2009

The book The Million Dollar Throw is one of Mike Lupica’s best books ever. I would highly recommend this book to all football lovers. In this story a 13 year old boy

named Nate Brodie who is the quarterback for his eighth grade football team. He lives in Massachusetts so his favorite NFL team is the patriots. His favorite player

of all time is Tom Brady, he wants to be in his position some day not only for his own good but for his families as well. His parents are in a bit of a bundle right now and

are having to sell the house for needed money. Nate gets a letter has heard about the million dollar throw at the halftime show of the patriots game and he wants to try

and make it so he can stay where he lives now. He trains every night and finally gets to go to the game and Tom Brady hands him the ball to throw through the tiny

ring and Nate gets it right through and wins. Now he and his family are able to live comfortably and help Nate’s best friend go to the school for the blind. Again this is an

amazing family sports book and I would recommend it ten out of ten.

1/9/2019 Painting the Black Carl Deuker, 1997

The book that I am recommending is called Painting the Black by Carl Deuker. It is a good book for people in high school, that play sports, or even people that need

motivation to never give up. It is a story about a high school senior that battles a broken ankle and quitting everything. An unexpected neighbor ends up helping this

high school senior find a path back onto the baseball field. There is many bumps in the road but the biggest of all could be whether or not to do the right thing. He has

to decide between doing the right thing and telling what a teammate did or keeping it to himself. If he tells the team will not be able to win the state championship. Read

the book to find out what path he will take.

5/30/2013 Payback Time Carl Deuker, 2012

I recommend this book to anyone who loves suspense and mystery type books. I chose this book because I liked football and I thought it was going to be about mostly

football related things. However, this book goes way beyond just football. I believe even if you don't like football, one you start reading this book you won't be able to put

it down until you finish it. Give it a try.

5/30/2013 Peak Roland Smith, 2007

Peak is a very good book because there is a lot of action and suspense throughout the book. I would not recommend this book to anyone who does not like it when there

is death in books. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes to read about sports and action. The book does get a little boring during the middle of it.

5/30/2013 Players Joyce Sweeney, 2000

Players is a great book if you enjoy sports, specifically basketball. It combines basketball with drama to make a great novel. Even if you don’t like sports or basketball,

I would still recommend it to you because it is a great book. Players isn’t even that long so if you hate long books then you should still read it. If you hate basketball,

then you shouldn't read this book.

1/10/2018 QB 1 Mike Lupica, 2013

I recommend a book by the name of QB 1, written by Mike Lupica. If you enjoy Friday night lights you will enjoy this book. It takes you deep into the life of a high school

freshman quarterback that took over the spot of his brother who the previous year won the state championship in the great state of Texas. The boy Jake Cullen also deals

with a crush on a girl during the book. The book was published on September 17, 2013 back when i was 11. The genre of this book is sports fiction. I highly recommend

this book. The book made me feel like I was there watching and enjoying the boys life as it went on. He took on an almost impossible task for a freshman quarterback in

the state of Texas but he completed it. It is a great book one of Mike Lupica’s best.

1/9/2019 The Running Dream Wendelin Van Draanen, 2011

The Running Dream is an incredible sports novel that details the struggles of a teen girl who survives a tragic bus crash. With the loss of her lower right leg,

Jessica Carlisle reluctantly must give up her passion for running. Running was her night and day; her life! With new friendships beginning and old ones coming

to a close, Jessica and her family navigate the twists and turns of Wendelin Van Draanen’s plot. This exciting book brings a new perspective to the eyes of the

readers. The teenager agonized getting up every morning and seeing other people out of fear that they would see her injury and not her. Returning to her traditional

day-to-day life after weeks of recovery, she meets Rosie, a disabled girl as well who she would never have met without Jessica’s injury. With their friendship

blossoming along the way, the girls became very close. Jessica’s ultimate goal was to show Rosie what it felt to cross a finish line! I most definitely recommend this

book if you are interested in reading a novel filled with a character’s motivation to rise to a challenge that will change her life and yours.

5/23/2013 Travel Team Mike Lupica, 2004

The book Travel Team is an inspiring book that shows that heart and wanting to be something is all you need in life. I recommend this book to anyone who like sports

especially basketball and likes inspiring books. This book was an easy and quick read I flew through it and loved it just like most of his other books. This book surprised

me with how much heart an honestly small person could have for basketball he could easily be compared to someone who never gives up until they taste victory. This

book is an overall read and I think most people would enjoy.

1/8/2019 When Nobody was Watching: My Hard-fought Journey to the Top of the Soccer World Carli LLoyd, 2016

When Nobody was Watching: My Hard-fought Journey to the Top of the Soccer World, a biography written by Carli LLoyd, is an essential read for any aspiring soccer player. Carli LLoyd, a US soccer hero, shares her journey of how her relentless hard work day after day had led up to her scoring a hat-trick in the first sixteen minutes during the world cup final in 2015 versus Japan. There are already many books written of how athletes made it big playing the beautiful sport of soccer. However, her story can be set apart from others because of the unique difficulties she had to overcome, especially as a female athlete. Her journey to the top of soccer stardom was truly a hard fought one, and her message can be life changing to someone trying to pursue the career of playing soccer. I recommend this book to anybody interested in knowing the grind it takes to be a world cup champion and gold medal winner.
