1/10/2018 The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian Sherman Alexie, 2007

The Absolutely True Diary of a Part Time Indian is a humorous and exciting book. In this book a small town indian boy faces many challenges as an adolescent.

He has many physical disabilities and is living on a reservation. When he starts school at an all white school is has to deal with bullies and make friends. Not only

does he have to learn how to adapt to his new school but he is known as a traitor on the reservation. This book will take you on the journey and challenges he goes

through. This book has sports in it as well for those who like sports. Keep in mind that you probably have to be a bit more mature because this is an adult fiction

book. I would definitely recommend this book for you because of how funny it is and the lessons it can teach you.

1/10/2018 Artemis Fowl Eion Colfer, 2001

Artemis Fowl is about a young millionaire, evil mastermind genius who meddles with magic. It was a good book, as it took a non cheesy approach to magic

and only used the cool parts about it. Twelve-year-old Artemis Fowl is a millionaire, a genius—and, above all, a criminal mastermind. But even Artemis doesn't

know what he's taken on when he kidnaps a fairy, Captain Holly Short of the LEPrecon Unit. The fairy police are onto Artemis and his evil plans, and a cross

species war breaks out. The book is a funny fictional account of fairies v. humans, and although it contains juvenile humor and poop jokes, the adult vocabulary

and fast plot make for a good read. The book is well strung together, the characters are interesting, and young readers are able to relate to the stuck up teenage

main character. Eion Colfer’s majestic police brutality story is one to remember, and is okay for grades 4 and up."

9/28/2014 Awaken Katie Kacvinsky, 2011

The story takes place in the future, in the year 2060 and is about a girl named Maddie, who lives in a world where everything is done on the computer: school,

meeting friends… The people are just inside because the most people think that it is too dangerous to go outside and so they talk to their friends just on the

computer and never see each other in person and the most teenagers don't even know how it looks like outside. Maddie is okay with that all, because for her

its normal, until she meets Justin. He is different than her friends on the internet. He likes to go outside to meet people and do stuff and doesn’t like just to sit

in the room and let the computer do everything. Maddie starts to recognize that this is maybe a better and more fun way to live. She has to decide what she

wants to do but she will hurt and loose someone with her decision- either her family or Justin.

2/3/2016 The Blood of Olympus Rick Riordan, 2013

This book involves a group of 17 year old demigods that have to go on a quest to stop Gaea (the evil Earth goddess) from awakening and destroying the gods

and demigods. This book is appealing to anyone who enjoys and adventure and action book. The plot of this book is based on ancient Greek gods, so you are

reading an interesting book, while learning about ancient Greek gods. This book is full of close escapes and battles, so you will never be bored by this book.

This book includes Greek and Roman demigods, so it describes the relationship the Romans and Greeks had, and you as the reader can learn about their

differences.

2/3/2016 Brotherband John Flanagan, 2011

I would recommend that you read the book Brotherband. It is an amazing book that sucks you into the action putting you in the life of a young viking boy. The

writer makes the characters likable and relatable. There's never a moment that you will want to put the book down. This is a story about the underdogs going

against impossible odds and changing everything.

2/1/2012 Blood Promise Richelle Mead, 2009

This is a book that will make you cry like a baby because of the how close you feel to Rose and Dimitri. Rose is giving up her bonded best friend to have closure

over the man she loves. And it shows the battle it is for her to deal with. But it also helps in a real life situation making it really heartfelt. She and everyone else

believes Dimitri has been turned evil. But its so amazing because there are so many twists that make you cry even more. I think this a spectacular story that

will make you keep wanting more. Graphic Violence, Language, and Tear Jerker.

1/10/2018 A Clash of Kings George R. R. Martin, 1998

A follow up to George R. R. Martin’s A Game of Thrones, this second installment perfectly continues the stories of war and intrigue the first book established.

Following the perspectives of many important characters such as Arya, Bran, Sansa, and Catelyn Stark, Jon Snow, Tyrion Lannister, Daenerys Targaryen, Davos

Seaworth, and Theon Greyjoy, the book seamlessly weaves together the stories of the War of Five Kings, the Wall, Winterfell, King’s Landing, Harrenhal, and Qarth.

The story shows a dark side most fantasy shies away from, such as the politicking, whoring, and backstabbing that is central to Tyrion and Sansa’s stories. The book

also isn’t afraid to show the evil side of humanity, with supporting characters being known for torture, skinning people alive, or flat out rape and murder. This book is

not for the faint of heart, for both violence related and ‘adult’ reasons, and with over a thousand pages in the leather-bound edition it is a struggle to eventually work

through, but I would highly recommend it for a compelling, multi-faceted story plagued by intrigue, secrets, and an unshakable feeling that more is going on than what

appears at first inspection.

5/1/2012 Clockwork Angel Cassandra Clare, 2010

I recommend this book or anyone who enjoys fast-paced, action-packed books. It would probably be wise to read the Mortal Intruments series before picking up this

book for it explains a lot of the basic story, but it is by no means necessary. This book is set way back in the 1800's so if you're not interested in getting a mini history

lesson, then this book isn't for you. This book is just amazing to say the least. I hope that everyone will find time to read it.

1/9/2019 A Court Of Thorns And Roses Sarah J. Maas, 2015

If your ideal book includes elements of Beauty and The Beast, Hades and Persephone, and faerie lore, you will become obsessed with A Court of Thorns and Roses.

Feyre Archeron is taken from her home because of a longstanding treaty between mortals and faeries. Even though Feyre is a human, she finds love throughout this

frightening yet exciting world. Feyre will have to fight for herself, as well as those she loves, to save Prythian. This book is well-written, considering I have read it three

times and still can never get bored of it. When I think of my favorite book, this is what pops into my mind. The immense detail on characters is a brilliant demonstration

of Maas’s writing talent. You will fall in love with all the characters, but definitely hate some of them with a burning passion. This book will leave you wanting more

and you won’t be able to put it down.

1/10/2018 A Court of Thorns and Roses Sarah J Maas, 2015

If you enjoy the classic story of Beauty and the Beast you will enjoy A Court of Thorns and Roses. Set in a fantastical world where humans live in fear fairies, one

girl is taken into their land because of an ancient treaty. Here she discovers what she love and what she must do to keep this love. Dragged into a feud going back

many years, she must fight for her survival and learn who to trust. This book is a combination of fairy tale and new age romance with a strong female lead. It has

complex characters and just the right amount of humor. If you love books filled with suspense and romance, then this is the perfect book for you. The author is able

to create a lush, fairy culture that sets this book apart from other new fantasy books. This book is never boring and you will not regret reading it.

5/29/2013 The Cry of Icemark Stuart Hill, 2005

The Cry of Icemark is one of the most fantastic books I have ever read. It's packed full with enthralling action and fantasy and it's one of the most well written books

out in the public eye of today. It's a bit lengthy, but you fly through it so fast. The book sticks with you, and you end up thinking about it for a long time afterwards and

imagining your own scenarios to what happened. It's absolutely perfect.

1/9/2019 Delirium Lauren Oliver, 2001

Delirium, written by Lauren Oliver, takes a twist on the concept of love as a disease. Every citizen in Portland above eighteen has been administered a cure that nullifies

the effects of love. The book follows a normal teenager, Lena Haloway, as she discovers the secrets about the mysterious disease called amor deliria nervosa and the

conspiracies the government are hiding about the rebels that live in the territory beyond the borders. Lena has little time to waste as her procedure date is coming up. Will

Lena be able to escape to the Wilds free from the grasp of the government? This fast-paced story will keep you on edge and will surprise you with its plot twists. If you

enjoyed the Hunger Games and the Divergent series, then this is a must read book. Read about the law-abiding citizen that blossoms into a rebellious advocate for love

with the help of the Alex, a boy who lives in the Wilds, in this young-adult fantasy book, Delirium.

5/30/2013 Delerium Lauren Oliver, 2011

What would happen if love was a disease? What if there was a procedure to cure it? If you've ever had these questions or just wanted to know if it could happen, this

is the book to read. Lauren Oliver has a great way of showing what would happen in a society that no longer has love. You almost feel like you're actually part of this

society where love is a disease, you see how having no love can affect people in life. There is some mild violence; it's a love story, and you may become emotional.

I would recommend this book because it show a different society and what could happen if we didn't have any love in the world.

2/15/2016 The Enemy Charlie Higson, 2009

I would love to recommend The Enemy to any fantasy horror reader. This book includes a whole lot of adult zombies, and very few children survivors. The book

captures the reader into the lives of many groups of survivors, and how they must work together to overcome unbearable odds. It includes horrifying deaths and

never spares any main characters, so don’t get too attached to any one character. A guaranteed great read, and is completely worth the time. Also this book is

the first of seven books, and I predict that after you read

the first, you will want to read them all.

2/5/2016 Eon Alison Goodman, 2008

If you're looking for something unique, Eon is the book for you. Unlike most fantasy novels that are set in medieval Europe, this novel takes place in medieval Asia.

Forget your French and British based fantasy novels and dive into a book that seamlessly combines the Chinese and Japanese cultures. This book challenges

society, promotes females, and encourages people to follow their own path and be respectful of others, all while trying to stop a tyrannical monster from gaining

complete control of the 12 dragons and overthrowing the new emperor. If you want a fast-paced, action-packed book with an underlying message that basically

says that in order to be empowered, you must be yourself, this is a book you absolutely must read.

1/10/2018 Eragon Christopher Paolini, 2002

Eragon is a book comparable to Lord of The Rings. A book including Dragons, Elves, Dwarves, humans. In a world of magic and mystery Although Paulini used

ideas from other great stories that paved the way for the genera of writing that Eragon is in, I don't think that he stole them and it is not a copy of their work.

Therefore it is a book worth reading due to its unique and interesting twist on the baseline of Lord of the Rings. The book flows very well and not many times does

it seem that the book gets boring or slows down for long. Therefore it held my attention and I finished it in a week. It is a good read worth reading if you liked the

Lord of the Rings Trilogy.

10/13/2014 The Eye of the World Robert Jordan, 1990

Robert Jordan’s first book The Eye of the World quickly and easily draws in its readers with a riveting prologue that just flows off the page. This first book goes onto

describe some of the main characters and o pave the way for the next 14 books in the series. Jordan uses vivid imagery that could take almost an entire paragraph

to paint a picture of what is taking place right there and then and how the character feels. The story follows three boys from a small village that barely anyone knows

about where a women, called an Aes Sedai, comes searching for them. The three boys’ names are Rand al’Thor, Perrin Aybara, and Matrim Cauthon who all turn

out to have a major place in the Pattern. The Aes Sedai, who come to the village, are women who can use a force called the One Power which utilizes the forces

of earth, water, fire, wind, and spirit. Moraine Sedai is the Aes Sedai who comes searching for the boys so they can fulfill their purpose in the Pattern. This series

This book is very interesting, it is about a girl into video games that goes to a new town. She goes into her own world to cope with what is going on around her, it is

a very easy and entertaining book to read. It also isn't your typical book and it won't be easy to put down. It's very easy to understand and very relatable for most

9/28/2014 The Goose Girl Shannon Hale, 2003

The Goose Girl is the first book in Shannon's series The Books of Bayern, and is by far the best one. At first I was skeptical of the title but I decided to read it

because my friend gave a great review on it. Shannon Hale's novels are written very poetically but still easy to read and full of clear meaning. She tells this story

with great imagery and kept me hooked never wanting to put the book down. The book has many overall themes like compassion, justice, war and peace, integrity

and betrayal. Ani, the main character, has a gift of animal-speaking which makes the book interesting because she uses this to her advantage in reclaiming her

title as Princess of Bayern. I recommend this novel to girls especially because it involves romance, and although it is a fantasy, has real life situations and helpful

words of encouragement about fitting into society.

2/5/2016 Gulliver's Travels Jonathan Swift, 1726

I enjoyed the thought process behind this book very much. It showed the evolution of human nature to me, and demonstrated what it could do to a person. It is a

grand adventure, and every page told of something new. This book to me showed a journey of learning and hope all throughout, and tells of a man in his fight for

seeing his family again, as he gets lost at sea. As I read this book it mainly meant the discovery of a man's own self and who he really was. I enjoyed reading this

very long book and discovering what Gulliver discovers.

1/9/2019 Heart of Thorns Bree Barton, 2018

I would highly recommend reading this book. As soon as I saw the title it got my interest. It's takes place in a realm with four kingdoms, fire, ice, water, and air.

Mia Rose, the main character, lives in the River kingdom. In the river kingdom only women can have magic, but that magic can be dangerous. They can cause

people to die simply by touch. These magical creatures are called Gwyrachs. On the night of Mia and Prince Quin’s wedding she finds out she is also a Gwyrach.

Although this story is fantasy, it also has a bit of horror and romance in it as well. As soon as I read the first couple chapters it was very suspenseful. I loved this

book because it has both fairy tale elements and horror as well. There are many unexpected twists and turns throughout the story. Some of the characters even

betray their closest friends.

9/29/2014 The Hobbit J.R.R. Tolkien, 2014

I recommend The Hobbit by J.R.R. Tolkien because for one thing, it's a timeless fantasy classic. It's got a beautiful story line full of intense, mythical elements,

something to easily get lost in. I highly recommend this book especially if you like something that'll really stretch your imagination glitter. It's got that extra pizazz

that I believe everyone could use at least a little of in their lives, one more reason why it's been around since the 1950's and not one but three movies have been

based off of it. Amazing, right? Check it out! It has adventure, action, and true friendship between the pages. 10/10 because this story gracefully begins with a

kindly hobbit man named Bilbo Baggins who is greeted by Gandolph, the best wizard in all the lands. He takes Bilbo on a journey to reclaim stolen gold from

the evil dragon Smaug, bringing them to all sorts of thrilling monsters and mischief. Bilbo learns quite a bit about his own character along the way. Try it out-

you won't regret it.

9/28/2014 The House of Hades Rick Riordan, 2013

Rick Riordan is a fantastic author who has created master piece after master piece. Now the latest is the book The House of Hades in the Heroes of Olympus

series which is no short of.... you guessed it a master piece. To start of this story begins when the previous book left off with a cliff hanger. This book gives us

all new perspectives on many characters that we as an audience have come to enjoy reading about. The setting of this story is mainly throughout Greece.

The beautiful scenery that the author uses to describe the ancient world in such a modern and yet poetic beauty. The story brings in people who have experienced

10/15/2014 Hush, Hush Becca Fitzpatrick, 2009

Hush is the first in a series of books. It follows the story of a young girl named Nora whose life gets turned upside down when paired with a new partner in her

tenth grade biology class. It’s set in present day Maine, so it’s not similar to the Hunger Games or Divergent. Hush, Hush is probably more similar to Twilight,

but much better written in my opinion. The book has a really interesting plot and it's a very fast read, too. It can be slow at some parts, but for the most part it's

really entertaining. Hush, Hush also has a really good balance between witty banter and serious conflict. The book has well developed characters and some

plot twists that you may not expect. Hush, Hush more than anything sets you up for the next for the next three books in the series (Crescendo, Silence, and

Finale), and I greatly suggest that you read those also.

9/28/2014 Incarceron Catherine Fisher, 2007

One of my favorite books that I have read was this book. I had to read it for a project and at school and it had a very interesting plot. This book also has a

sequel that continues the story. Although it is a lengthy book, I enjoyed reading it from the start. Most stories can take over 100 pages to become interesting,

but this book has a great start. Literally, on the first chapter there is already action going on in the story. It switches views of the characters about every chapter,

which helps keep it exciting throughout. The whole time I was just wondering how everything would all play out and I was totally shocked once I read the last

chapter. It is definitely a great book to read with an unexpected ending. I have never read another book that tells a story just like this author does.

10/13/2014 Infinity:Chronicles of Nick Sherrilyn Kenyon, 2010

I must admit I'm a picky reader. The only books I truly enjoyed were Harry Potter and Percy Jackson but reading Infinity gave me a new favorite to my short list

of good books. If you love a novel with character, personality and humor I must say this book satisfies and entertains. For all those who enjoy extreme fantasy

reads such as zombies, demons, vampires and immortal gods this book has all the above. The one thing that stood out to me and gave this book appeal was

the characters. From the main character Nick, who you knew his past and pre-determined future; to a minor character, Simi who only hinted at not being human.

For a far-fetched story the author did a good job on having the novel start out with of a poor boy going to a rich prep school(on scholarship) to a brave sassy

kid fighting zombies.

1/24/2012 Inheritance Christopher Paolini, 2011

I have had a pretty decent book reading history, so I have some clue as to what is a good book and what isn’t, and in my opinion this is a great book for anyone

with a flowing imagination. It is a fictional story that includes magic and dragons and different races of intellectual beings. This might sound “uncool” to some of

you right now but think about Harry Potter. That has pretty much the same elements. It has magic and werewolves and all kinds of crazy things. This book is

long but in my opinion flies by because you are just too caught up in the action.

1/30/2012 Inheritance Christopher Paolini, 2011

I believe most people would like this book. It is over 800 pages so of course not everyone would want to read it. However, the story of a young man finding a

dragon egg and him becoming an important dragon rider in a war of freedom is very thrilling and entertaining. This book is about war. There is death, but it is

not a gory book by any means. It is more about the way the universe works and nature so that things are connected by the energy of all living things on this

planet.

2/3/2016 Inheritance Christopher Paolini, 2011

The final book in the Inheritance Cycle, aptly named Inheritance, is a can’t miss novel. Now, before you read it, I recommend you read the first three books

in the series (starting with Eragon) so you know what’s going on. With that aside, let’s get on with my review. Inheritance follows the epic story of Eragon, his

dragon Saphira, and the rebel forces of the Varden as they begin their final assault on the evil emperor Galbatorix. The book finishes up many of the plotlines

going on throughout the series, answers some mysteries created earlier in the series as well as creating some new ones. Fans of books such as the Lord of

the Rings will feel right at home, with common fantasy elements such as Dwarves, magic and Elves. What sets this apart from other fantasy novels is the unique

way Paolini sets it up, in addition to the likable, believable characters and vivid world building. And for fans of the series, be ready for a shocking ending that

will leave craving the still unreleased fifth book. This review only touches on the reasons Inheritance is one of my favorite books, and I’m sure you will enjoy

it as well.

1/29/2012 The Iron King Julie Kagawa, 2010

This book is a great read for anyone who enjoys stories involving mystical creatures such as the fey, piskies, and centaurs. There are plenty of action scenes

and a lot of suspense to keep you interested. The great imagery Kagawa uses in her writing allows you to keep a crystal clear image of the setting and the

personalities of the characters. Since this book is geared toward females, there is a good amount of romance present throughout the story. Kagawa also mixes

in a bit of comical conversations for your amusement. The only thing that may be of concern is the occasionaluse of profanity and crude humour. The book is a

medium-sized novel at 363 pages. If you find the story to your liking, you can continue Meghan's adventure's in The Iron Daughter, The Iron Queen, and The

Islands of the Blessed is the finale to a long and captivating story begun by Sea of Trolls Trilogy 2005 which introduced us to Jack a 11 year old Saxon boy

dangerous events and complicated interactions. The book calls into question the morals of the reader and the characters when dealing with the taboos of their time

like slavery, magic and disfigurements. Coupled with the constant dilemma of danger constantly following them across the several worlds they visit ,and the tension

that just won’t leave Jack and his companions alone makes for a compelling story more than worth your time.

10/6/2014 The Lost Hero Rick Riordan, 2010

If you enjoy Greek and Roman mythology, I highly recommend this book. Even if you don't like the mythological aspect, I still recommend it for its intriguing plot line

and relatable teenaged characters Jason, Piper, and Leo. With them being half-bloods, it may seem hard to be able to see things from their prospective, but

Riordan does a wonderful job making them seem like they’re just the teenagers that they are, trying to cope with the struggles of everyday life. The action scenes

provide vivid descriptions for your imagination to run wild. This book is mainly about Jason, amnesic teenager who woke up on a bus with people that he doesn’t

recognize at all, Leo and Piper. This story follows each character individually through a few chapters so you get all three characters prospective on certain situations.

The plot thickens as they try and discover the reasons why Jason has lost his memory. Overall it is a very fun read I highly recommend for all.

1/8/2019 Magnus Chase: The Sword of Summer Rick Riordan, 2015

Magnus Chase is a great story about a kid who dies in the third chapter. But seriously, most of this book takes place in the pagan afterlife of Norse mythology, which

is about a quest, that Magnus, our main character, is put on, in order to prove his worth, and figure out how to use his sword, oh, and while not causing the end of the

world along the way. The characters in The Sword of Summer provide a very diverse cast, even in their religions. The whole book is full of action, adventure, and

fantastic character development, which is further developed in the two sequels of this book as well.

1/10/2018 Metamorphosis Franz Kafka, 1915

Metamorphosis, while falling under fantasy is actually most accurately described as absurdist fiction. It starts out with an everyday man named Gregor Samsa being

turned into a human sized fly. While this is a strange way to start out it perfectly describes the way most of Kafka’s books are written with a focus on a horrifying yet

somehow relatable storytelling and exploitation of the absurd. This is a basic summary of what Metamorphosis is. Metamorphosis takes a deep delve into the human

state and what defines our emotions. However, Metamorphosis may fall into a very niche category as it isn’t extremely action or drama based. Rather Kafka focuses

on a bland plot to contrast the fantastical setting. If you require a more action based plot to be interested Metamorphosis is not for you. However, if you have an

interest in surrealist art or are even curious about how you can identify with a human sized fly then I strongly recommend Metamorphosis."

1/9/2019 Mistborn: The Final Empire Brandon Sanderson, 2006

Mistborn is Brandon Sanderson’s first book in a phenomenal trilogy that takes place in a world governed by a tyrant called the Lord Ruler and his followers, who can

muster supernatural forces through the consumption of certain metals and alloys, who rule over an enslaved population of people that are called skaar. The story in

the book is one of a hero’s journey to defeat the demons inside of them and learn to care about and open up to others, then and only then does the hero reach their

full potential and overcome their situation which in turn helps the situation of others as the hero of Mistborn helps overthrow the current tyrannical government in

order to free all peoples. I highly recommend this book to the curious, adventurous, and zealous reader who wants to be fully infatuated and deeply immersed in a

very believable world that has its own rules, laws, languages, texts, religions, and people that govern its reality.

5/31/2013 Mistborn: The Final Empire Brandon Sanderson, 2006

The Mistborn Trilogy is by far one of the best books I have ever read. The author, Brandon Sanderson, creates a world so intricately designed it’s near impossible to

believe that he imagined it himself. Mistborn is about a poor girl who learns that she has the power of Allomancy, which is when certain metals give you certain abilities.

This makes her a target of their god and tyrant, the Lord Ruler. As she finds other Allomancers and learns of their plot to overthrow empire, she finds herself wrapped

up in a world of spying, slavery, double agents, and love. The ending will completely blow you away.

9/28/2014 The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones Cassandra Clare, 2007

I recommend this book or anyone who enjoys fast-paced, action-packed books. This book is the first book in the Mortal Instruments series and I liked this book because

it caused me to use my imagination of what the characters looked like and how the buildings were set up and it was filled with detail. I’m not a very big fan of reading,

but since this book was interesting from the beginning, I enjoyed reading it and it went by fast. It has action, romance, and hatred but the best parts are the surprises

he author throws out at you throughout the book. It might be long, but in my opinion it was worth it to read, and since it’s a series, you get to read the characters and

the story progress in the rest of the books which is cool to see. I’m sure that anyone who enjoys reading mysterious, science-fiction and action/adventure books would

love this book.

9/28/2014 The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones Classandra Clare, 2007

The City of Bones is the first of six books in The Mortal Instruments Series. The story is about a fifteen year old girl named Clary who has been sheltered from the

shadowhunting world her entire life. She lives with her mom next to a physic woman named Dorthea. When Clary’s Mom disappears and Clary comes home to a

dangerous demon, her world turns upside down. All of the sudden, she is thrown into a world that she never knew existed. Clary learns that her mom was a Shadowhunter

(someone who hunts demons) and that she has shadowhunter blood herself. Clary meets a group of shadowhunters that know her mother and they form a coalition

against a common enemy, named Valentine. The book also has romance between Clary and Jace, a shadowhunter. Clary’s best friend Simon, is also informed about

the shadowhunter world, although he is mortal. Simon adds comic relief to serious situations. The book is filled with action and unexpected plot twists. It leaves the

readers clueless about what is going to come next. The drama in the book keeps readers interested. Another great thing about this book is that the excitement doesn’t

end after one novel. The story continues with six more books!

9/28/2014 Ninth Grade Slays Heather Brewer, 2008

If you are not big into romantic books, and like more of sic-fi, then this is the book for you. This book only includes a little romance in it, and most of this book puts you

on the edge of your seat. Ninth Grade Slays is the second book to a series called the Chronicles of Vladmir Tod. This book very descriptive and paints a perfect picture

in your mind, and is action packed. The book also includes a half- vampire, half-human boy who is trying to keep anyone from finding out his secret, and to keep himself

safe, and alive from vampire hunters. However, Vladmir is still trying to wrap around how his parents died and if it was an accident or not, and who would want to kill

them. It's set in high school, with another boy trying to prove that he is a vampire, and the end is a major twist you would never see coming.

1/10/2018 The Novice Taran Matharu, 2005

This book is a fantasy book about a man who leaves his home town because he is falsely accused of hurting the leader of the towns son when really it was a demon he

had accidentally summoned. He goes on an adventure to learn more about demons and become a battle mage which are demon casters. It is a pretty good book if you

are new to fantasy or that you really like this type of story. When I say that I mean the book is very much like Lord of the Rings story line. The trio of heroes is an elf, a

dwarf, and a man. If you really liked that then you will love this book because it follows very closely to that with variations that make it its own book. But some may dislike

it because of its likeliness to the others. Overall, it is a good book that can be found to some a wonderful read.

1/10/2019 Out of the Blue Sophie Cameron, 2018

Out of the Blue is a great fantasy fiction book that takes place in Edinburgh, Scotland. Jaya’s mother has just passed away, and now Angels are strangely falling to their

deaths from the skies at terrifying speeds 10 days afterwards. Her father has become intent on catching one alive, but Jaya and her sister are still suffering with grief from

the loss of their mother, and don’t know the reasoning behind their father’s obsession. Whilst Jaya is grieving, an angel falls at her feet, the only one seeming to still be

alive. She decides not to tell her father or her sister about the Being, as the angels are called, but she helps nurse the Being back to health. The book goes on to tell a story

of how an unexpected event can lead to coping with grief, and learning to move on through tough times in the form of a fantasy.

2/3/2016 Pendragon D.J. MacHale, 2002-2009

I have recently finished the Pendragon series, and absolutely loved it. They are perfect for anyone who loves a good fantasy, and all of them are perfect for literary

analyses or a weekend read. They are filled with action, adventure, amazing worlds, and a powerful feeling of inspiration. You are exposed to many diverse populations

with their own rules, and one massively powerful villain, messing up all of the different worlds. The timeline connects through all of the books very well, and the plot

twists are everywhere. These books are very well written, and D.J. MacHale is a brilliant author.

1/8/2019 The Phantom Tollbooth Norton Juster, 1961

The Phantom Tollbooth was an effortless read. I relate to the protagonist, Milo, who was bored with life and everything about it. Then one day a mysterious tollbooth

took him for the adventure of a lifetime. Throughout the book, Milo learns several life lessons from the unique people he encounters along his journey. With the help

of his companions, Tock and the Humbug, Milo rescues two special characters, Rhyme and Reason on whom the plot of the book depends. These two sisters help

Milo realize that, “It’s learning what to do with what you learn and learning why you learn things at all that matters.” I found this book to be very interesting and entertaining

with clever wordplay and memorable quotes and idioms. I recommend the book to all ages and personalities because even though it is a fantasy, there are many nuggets

of educational wisdom buried in it’s pages.

1/8/2019 The Red Pyramid Rick Riordan, 2010

Rick Riordan has done it again! If you’ve read any of Riordan\s past books you will know that he likes to write about the different myths (or are they?) and can develop

wonderful characters so life-like and relatable that you start to think of them as REAL people. Rick Riordan wrote about Percy Jackson and the Greek and Roman gods,

as well as Magnus Chase and the Asgardian gods. The Red Pyramid is about Carter and Sadie Kane and the Egyptian gods, and the wonderful adventure they have with

restoring said Egyptian gods back to their more powerful and more believed selves. It is a great fantasy fiction (or is it?) novel and one that I would recommend to all,

even those who don’t like these kind of books. The reason being, it just immerses you in the story, putting the characters in situations that might be relatable (not the gods

and the fighting, but the situations the characters were in BEFORE said gods and fighting) to the reader and deepening the connection between them, before launching them

into a whole other world that not only entertains them, but teaches them about Egyptian culture and the different deities and creature’s within, even if they aren’t 100%

accurate.

10/5/2014 The Red Pyramid Rick Riordon, 2010

If you like any type of fantasy books - especially the Percy Jackson series - you will love The Red Pyramid. Instead of dealing with Greek gods, siblings Carter and

Sadie, deal with Egyptian history and their place in it. I would highly recommend this book! It is filled with awesome action and battle scenes and is extremely interesting.

The author creates characters that have complex and captivating personalities that make the book impossible to put down. The one downfall is the book is a bit long.

I personally hate reading but despite the length I still really liked the story.

10/16/2014 Ruins of Gorlan John Flanagan, 2005

One thing that makes this book so good is that it is the start of a very fun and interesting series and not like the hunger games where there is only three books. There

are twelve books in these series with more coming along with sibling series being developed. This book is about a Boy who's mother and father died when he was a

infant and he was taken in to the ward also known as an orphanage and on choosing day he is not chosen by any of the typical craft masters. he thought he was going

to live life of working in the fields but luckily the mysterious ranger offered to take him as a apprentice. will the orphan with no family name was hesitant at first because

he didn't know much about the rangers but once he accepted he began to understand that the ranger had a hard cover but was soft and loving once you get to know him.

1/10/2018 The Scorpio Races Maggie Stiefvater, 2011

This book is filled with beautiful writing. Based on the title you would believe that the whole book is wrapped around the Race itself, but there is actually much more to that.

The book expands over things like human struggle, feelings and the connection between animals and humans. At first I wasn't too sure about it because I can get bored

really fast depending on the book. Although this book was a bit slow in the beginning it starts to pick up around the second chapter. The Scorpio race has roots found deep

in the history of the little island of Thisby. Every year when the race takes place, the flesh eating water horses rise from the chaotic sea surrounding their tiny island, and

are taken and used in the races. Some people race for the thrill and danger of it, while others race for their lives hoping to win the money. As the book goes on, the action

intensifies and you grow more connected to each character. I definitely recommend this book if anyone is looking for a fascinating and intense read.

1/30/2012 The Shifter Janice Hardy, 2010

I recommend The Shifter for anyone interested in fantasy worlds and where anything is possible. This is an easy book to read and to understand for teens. A lot of the

messages behind the story relate to teenagers. To be honest, this book was slow in the beginning, but it really picked up further in. I was also skeptical about reading it

because the description made it sound like a "Harry Potter" spin-off. I was mistaken. Tthis book incorporated all kinds of crazy things that mashed together to make an

amazing book. This is an awesome read and I hope you will look into it. If you enjoyed the first book as much as I did, you will want to read the others including; Blue Fire

and Darkfall.

10/6/2014 Shiver Magie Stiefvater, 2009

This book is not some boring and corny story with ware wolfs. This is a beautiful love story about a girl who loves wolfs. One wolf in particular. Its a lovely story that draws

you right in by the first chapter. It has you at the end of your seat, and other times making you tear up. I really recommend this book for any fantasy/romance lovers.

Stiefvater writes very poetically and wrenches your heart with words. This is one of my favorite books and I really urge you to take some time and read it. You may even

fall in love and want to read the two books after it as well.

10/6/2014 A Song of Ice and Fire, A Game of Thrones George R. R. Marting, 1996

I would recommend this book because of the different conflicts occurring throughout the story. These help set the mood of a land plagued by deceit and tyranny, destroying

itself through lust for power and greed. The peoples in the story are divided into two base factions, the separatists and the loyalists. The separatists are trying to assassinate

the king so the they might place their own leader upon the throne. The loyalists however are attempting to stop the separatists, while shining light upon the whole conspiracy

for the king. This leads to an internal conflict with the leader of the loyalists as the king is his closest friend. Against his better judgement he proceeds to warn the separatists

leader telling her to flee. This leads to the end where the separatist leader has him tried and executed after a shocking twist. The book then ends in the shocking death of

the loyalist movement and the beginnings of a civil war that will destroy the realm.

2/3/2016 Tiger Lily Jodi Lynn Anderson, 2012 I would highly recommend this book to anyone who is looking for a quick and captivating read. This book is basically a backstory to the movie and fairy-tale Peter Pan and

it is narrated by Tinker Belle. Tinker Belle follows around an indian girl named Tiger Lily and tells the story of how she meets and eventually falls in love with Peter. All of

these event occur before Wendy and the other Englishmen come into the story. If you have seen the movie Peter Pan then you will recognize many characters such as the

lost boys and Hook, but it is different from the known story in some extremely interesting ways that I personally enjoyed. I did cry a little bit after I finished it, so if you want to

find out why I suggest that you read it.

5/30/2013 Tomoe Gozen Jessica Amanda Salmonson, 1981

Tomoe Gozen, written by Jessica Amanda Salmonson, is a fantastic novel which delves deep into the realm of Japanese culture and folklore. The novel has everything an

avid fantasy reader wants to see—vividly portrayed fights, accurate depiction of time period and customs, a female heroine (contrary to a male hero), and a side of romance.

There’s even a bit of history in this book, as Tomoe, the main character, actually was a real person and a samurai as depicted in the novel. The basic plot is as follows: Tomoe

Gozen, a female samurai, loses her honor and breaks faith with her Bushido. This is the story of all the things she does to regain her honor. One thing of importance regarding

Tomoe Gozen is that the novel is out of print. If you want to read it, the only way to get it is by purchasing it online. If you do not like fantasy or Japanese folklore, this book is

not for you. Tomoe Gozen is the first novel in the Tomoe Gozen Saga. For readers looking for an action packed fantasy with just the right amount of romance coupled with a

fantastic depiction of life and customs in feudal Japan, Tomoe Gozen is the perfect novel.

1/31/2012 The Vampire Academy Richelle Mead, 2007

This book is the first of an amazing series. The book is action-packed, but it also has some romance in it. It's not one of your regular vampire books. You will

have so much trouble putting this book down because you will just want to keep on reading. After you're done with this book there are many more to come. I

highly recommend this book to all readers.

2/3/2016 Warriors: Fire and Ice Erin Hunter, 2003

The Warriors series is probably by far the best series I have ever read. I honestly hate reading books and this series is something that made me pass up playing

video games to finish the book. You will love this book, but you do have to keep an open mind to it, if you are expecting something big to happen in the first chapter,

you won't want to keep reading, however just read past chapter 2 and I guarantees you Erin hunter will have you locked into that book. The series has over 30 books

and still growing along with several attachments, but I honestly believe the Warriors franchise is the best. The story lines, the action, the prophecies I mean this will

literally blow your mind, and you can even relate them to humans as well! Absolutely fantastic book, recommend for anyone to read.

1/30/2012 Warriors: Into the Wild Erin Hunter, 2003

This book I picked up to read for middle school, and I must say I really enjoyed it. Even now, three years later, I go back every once in a while and re-read it. I would

definitely recommend this book to all the cat lovers out there. It contains all the cat-ness one desires, as well as a healthy dose of action and adventure. However, if

your are one who has a weak stomach for blood and death, this book isn't for you. And if you like it, it is part of a very large collection of four arcs, each containing

six books.

2/5/2016 The Wheel of Time Robert Jordan/Brandon Sanderson, 1990

This is book is a world within itself. There are countless countries with all different cultures. Throughout the book you encounter battle scenes, romance, and even a

little bit of mystery. You follow the adventures of Rand, Perrin, and Matt as they explore the world. In the first book, Rand and his friends are being chased by the Dark

One and do not know why. They encounter Aes Sedai, Warders, Trolls, Kings, and even shadow figures on their journey.Best part about this series is that there is 14

books in total and each book contains hours of amazement. If you are a fan of Lord of The Rings, this is an excellent series to pick up.

This is an amazing book, but at times it can seem cliché. The plot keeps the reader interested at all times and includes many unexpected twists. I would recommend

romance novel as well.
