3/1/2016 13 Hours Mitchell Zuckoff, 2014

The book 13 Hours was a thrilling story that shows the truths of what it is like behind the enemy lines. The words and how this story was depicted in this book

shows how terrible it is in the crazed state of Benghazi. this book represents many failings of our government with all the mistakes they made and not doing

what they needed to have done. This is a story of few men that showed the heroism and bravery in the face of imminent danger. A must read book for anyone

who understands the hardships that are faced overseas. Thousands of words explaining the exact account of what happened during those 13 hours that these

men were stuck facing thousands of enemies.

1/30/2012 13 Little Blue Envelopes Maureen Johnson, 2005

This is a wonderful book that involves traveling, romance and drama. Follow Ginny as her aunt guides her throughout Europe...only her aunt is dead. Many

secrets and tasks are learned in the book. From Paris to Greece and everywhere in between Ginny is pushed out of her comfort zone and into her aunt's last

path before she passed away. As she travels she learns more about her aunt and meets many interesting people. The end of the book brings a sad surprise,

but the sequel turns it all around. This is a great mixture of everything we all love in a book!

If you are looking for a thrill of a book this is something you want to read. This book also consists of an extraordinary climax. The unpredictable turn of events

throughout the story keeps you on your toes. When I was reading, I couldn't put it down because I always wanted to know what would happen next. One reason

why a person wouldn't want to read this would be if they have a weak stomach. Throughout the book, including the very beginning, there are vivid descriptions

of wounds and blood caused by harsh climates. Otherwise, it's an exciting book that's extremely interesting.

1/8/2019 The Alchemist Paulo Coelho, 1988

I enjoyed reading The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho because of the inspiring story it told. It took the reader through twists and turns, ups and downs, and a lot of

relatable life lessons. This book would be good for any one above 8th grade due to the amount of understanding and patience you must have to understand the

reasoning of the actions taken. It represents the aspect of humanity constant push for more and explains why we should never be content with mediocre and

always strive to become the best person that we could possibly be. It uses symbolism to explain why no matter how many times you fail or how bad you screw

up that things can always get better if you get back up and work for it. It also uses symbolism to show you that however long or terrifying the journey may be or

look, that through perseverance there is always a way to succeed.

5/27/2013 Alex Rider: Eagle Strike Anthony Horowitz, 2003

This book was really good. The characters are dynamic and the plot is full of many twists and turns that really keep you interested. I liked it a lot. I recommend

the entire Alex Rider series because the reader can see how the characters develop, very similar to Harry Potter.

9/29/2014 Alex Rider: Stormbreaker Anthony Horowitz, 2001

This is a very interesting book about a young European spy who works for MI-6. Alex Rider is a very skilled and well trained boy. His uncle helped prepare him

to be a spy then he died. Alex is also a teenager so its easy to relate to the character. The way Anthony Horowitz wrote this book launches you straight into the

setting as if you were actually there. The plot in some places become unrealistic but it is still an interesting read. Like the fact that a teenager is sent on missions

by an intelligence agency is absurd but entertaining. there is also seven or so books that follow this one in the series so you can read those as well. I certainly

enjoyed all of the book in this series. If you are looking for a quick, easy, entertaining read I highly recommend this book. If not then I don't.

1/10/2018 Brotherband: The Invaders John Flanagan, 2012

As the second book of his series: Brotherband, The Invaders takes place after the once thought insignificant underdogs, under the team name of the Herons,

won the Brotherband competition. Despite their brief period of long deserved acceptance, it won’t be as easy as they think. Soon after, an ancient relic of Skandia,

the Andomal, is stolen and the Herons are blamed for its disappearance. They must now adventure out and hunt down the thief who stole the Andomal and return it

to its rightful place. The action in this book is absolutely breathtaking and suspenseful with many near-death encounters. The growth of the characters into young

adulthood and the amazing storytelling of John Flanagan will keep you enticed and completely invested to the lives of the lovable (and relatable) crew of the Heron.

Brotherband: The Invaders is an all around good book and I highly recommend it to anyone interested.

A great book to read is the second book of the rangers apprentice series which is called The Burning Bridge by John Flanagan. This book is outstanding because

it keeps you on the edge of your seat and is filled with action and does not contain any boring scenes. It also contains alot of humor through out it like when the

master ranger makes fun of his apprentice. This has to be one of the best books I have ever read . I hope you go out and pick this book up.

1/10/2018 Catching Fire Suzanne Collins, 2009

This book has many reasons as to why to you should read this. All of the reviews given by the students have been nothing but good and explains why they think

it is such a great book. The reviews given were about how the book caused suspense and how the book had many twist and turns and left you wondering what was

gonna happen next. You should read this book because it is well thought out and is well written with it’s suspenseful plot and changes in the emotions of the

characters. Though I have not personally read Catching Fire, reading these reviews by fellow students makes me think that this book could be a good choice for my

next reading and for others reads too. In my opinion, this book could be a great choice with it’s suspenseful twists, and changes in emotions between the characters.

This book could be a nice read for any people looking for a good plot and story.

1/30/2012 Catching Fire Susan Collins, 2009

I would highly recommend Catching Fire to anyone seeking a good adventure. There is a lot of suspense in this book and will keep you turning the papers to

find out what will happen. This book is about a girl who has to fight for her own survival. This book is very shocking and you will never know what is coming next.

The mood of this book will change from time to time because sometimes they are happy, but other times they are sad because people are dying everywhere.

This is the second book in a three book series, I have read all three and they are great. This was a great book and I recommend that you check it out.

I would recommend this book if you want an easy read to pass time. Honestly this is kind of a kid’s book, but I still enjoyed it. You should read this if you're

bored or have nothing else to read. There were some good parts in the book and some things I thought were cool and thrilling. Overall, I would give this book

10/16/2014 A Clockwork Orange Anthony Burgess, 1972

A Clockwork Orange is a thrilling tale about a 15 year old hooligan who does bad things for fun. It is set in the future, so expect strange words and fashion, but

it is still standard society. After a while, it digs into philosophy as well, discussing issues of free will. Although extremely gripping, it may be a little hard to

understand due to the language that Alex speaks. Also, I wouldn't recommend it to anyone squeamish about violence, as it does get extreme at times. Most

of the time. Don't read it if you can't tolerate violence. All that aside, It is a semi short novel and shouldn't rob you of hours and hours of your time.

2/4/2016 The Death Cure James Dashner, 2016

The Death Cure was an amazing 3rd installment to the maze runner series. The book kept me reading constantly like everyday. One time i tried to stop reading

the book for at least a day but i couldn't stop. It’s like doing something that’s addictive , you want to stop doing it but it so good so you don’t want to stop it. The

beginning of The Death Cure trough the ending was great because it started with suspense and ended off a great ending. I prefer you to read the the first and

1/30/2012 The Extraordinary Adventures of Alfred Kropp Rick Yancey, 2005

I highly recommend The Extraordinary Adventures of Alfred Kropp by Rick Yancey. This book is about the extraordinary adventures of a boy named Alfred Kropp,

hence the title. This book isn't just some random story, either. It's all about a old legend, which makes it an enjoyable read for young readers as well as the more

experienced readers. Its full of action, fighting, various vehicles, plot twists, and an ancient legend. These elements will keep you turning the pages, trying to

anticipate what will happen next. And it's not a very chunky read either! Generally, this book can be enjoyable for readers of all ages.

This is the most unique book that you will ever read. If you feel like books are getting boring, or were never exciting in the first place, then read this. It is a book that

challenges the very thought of existence itself. It really makes you think about life and points out a lot of things most people would never notice. It opens you eyes.

It is also very funny and very exciting in my opinion, and definitely the most interesting thing I have ever read. It is also very informative and teaches you very random

11/3/2011 Gregor the Overlander Suzanne Collins, 2005

This book is the first book in a series of three, all written by Suzanne Collins, the author of The Hunger Games. This series, called the Underland Chronicles, includes

sister as she falls down a mysterious pipe. They both find themselves in an amazing underworld - a world just below the surface of New York City. Gregor doesn't

know it, but he is expected in the Underland. The adventures are amazing, and Collins is a great story teller. If you like the Hunger Game series, you've got the read

9/28/2014 The Hunger Games: The Mockingjay Suzanne Collins, 2010

I enjoyed this book because of the nonstop excitement it brought. The book is about the 13th district and how it was supposedly destroyed in the failed rebellion.

The rebels and survivors of district 13 live in a bunker underground, led by president Coin. Though the rebellion is well underway, Katniss is traumatized by her

experiences in the Hunger Games. Peeta is held captive in the Capitol while all this is going on. She eventually gains control of herself and helps with the rebellion

over the Capitol. Katniss starts to become an important symbol in the rebellion, known by many as the Mocking jay. Katniss agrees to fight a publicity battle as the

10/13/2014 The Kill Order James Dashner, 2012

I recommend reading this book after reading the 3 other books Maze Runner, The Scorch Trials, and then The Death Cure in that order. This is a prequel to those

books which might explain some of the questions left from the series. It has a new group you will follow throughout the book as they reveal what happens 13 years

before Thomas and the maze and what horrors are there to face even then. One of the main reasons I recommend this book is that it combines horror and

survival to show how twisted and unfortunate events uncontrollably changes the world. Reading this will bring you into a world of horror where the only thing that

matters is to survive. If your interested in the author, James Dashner also wrote the 13th reality series (which I haven't read yet so I'm not sure what they're about)

but it might be good as well. I personally enjoyed reading the series and hope that you'll like the book as much as I did.

1/12/2018 Legend Marie Lu, 2011

Taking place in a dystopian universe, this novel is the first installation of Marie Lu’s brilliant “Legend” trilogy. The story is portrayed through the perspectives of two very

different characters by the names of Day and June. With differing intentions and goals, the two learn to face the struggles of a widespread plague along with

government-issued assessments that determine their position and fate in society. The readers will truly be immersed in the world of “Legend” as the characters encounter

trials full of hardships built upon by trust and conviction that stirs the story along with its traces of both romance and mystery. The factor that makes Lu’s story so

compelling is due to her skill in illustrating her characters’ differences in their situation, upbringing, and thought process, serving to be a source for an excellent discussion

and a magnificent reflection in regards to the modern world as we know it today.

1/9/2019 The Lonesome Gods Louis L'Amour, 1983

I recommend this book because of its unique way of telling a western theme. It is not a classic shoot them up story but one with more character and purpose. Don’t

get me wrong though it’s still got the shoot them up bit. The book takes place in the desert near old day Los Angeles and blends Spanish, Mexican, Native American,

and Anglo Californian culture. It tells the story of a boy with the intelligence of someone four times his age surviving in the west and his adolescent and adult life. It is

a good book for people who love western and Louis L’Amour books but is also very good for new readers as well. It was the first Western book and Louis L’Amour book

exciting and fun read.

1/8/2019 Lord of the Flies William Golding, 1954

Lord of the Flies is a novel by the well respected nobel prize author William Golding. The story puts the reader in thought about what he/she would do in this situation

The Lost Hero is a fast paced, action packed book that will be sure to keep you entertained. This book has a twisting plot that deepens the problems our heroes

Angel isn't blood related but they were all experimented on in the beginning which bonded them together as a family. Ever since the stuck together to the end. Just

like a normal family they have problems they need to solve together. Not to mention the fact that angel gets kidnapped throughout the book and they are always trying

to save her. This book is full of surprises as it walks through the story line in Max's perspective. This is a really great book.

1/9/2019 Maximum Ride James Patterson, 2005

The book I recommend is Maximum Ride, The Angel Experiment because it’s a great book to a wonderful series, it has an amazing idea with a deep story. What if you

could fuse the D.N.A. of birds and humans so that they adapted to have wings? The superpower of flight would be reality instead of something restricted in a comic book.

Although the children given the power of flight would live their lives tested on in a lab, is it worth it? The author of the book is James Patterson, author of many amazing

titles and maximum ride does not disappoint, from the moment you open the first page a great adventure entails, with twists and turns in the plot having you on the edge

of your seat, events in the book slowly start to connect like a great puzzle in your head which makes this book and the whole series worth the read.

5/1/2012 The Maze Runner James Dashner, 2009

I would highly recommend this book for anyone who is looking for a good read. This is a story about Thomas, who wakes up in the middle of an all boy community

with only the memory of his name. The community is surrounded by a giant maze that the 'maze runners' try to navigate. After Thomas' arrival things take a turn for

the worst as the boys try to figure out who they are and why theyre here. If you are not interested in series or don't have patience, then I would not recommend this

book, but for for all others I think it would be very enjoyable.

The maze runner is a good book to read if you like to read about action and incredible suspense. You are always thinking how they will get out of this situation

but then the way you think never happened so it keeps you on your feet. Once you start the book it just keeps dragging you in deeper and deeper and you just

9/28/2014 The Maze Runner James Dashner, 2009

The Maze Runner is the first book in a series written by James Dashner, a really good author. The Maze Runner starts with a boy coming up an elevator into a

place full of about 40 or so boys. His memory is wiped of his past life, like the rest of the boys, and the only things he remembers is his name, Thomas, and stuff

like smells, sights, feelings etc. He figures out later they were all brought up into this giant maze and they live in the center. The center is their lifeline, they grow

food there, live, eat, sleep, and stay protected from what's in the Maze at night. During the day the Maze opens up and they run out trying to find an exit, since

that is the only thing they can do. Once night falls, the walls will close and where they live, called the Glade, is protected from the mechanical monsters that come

out at night called Grievers. Then a girl comes up in the box saying the end is coming and that no more people will be brought up in the box. They have to find a

way out soon, because the walls aren’t closing at night now. I’d highly recommend you read this book. It is very intense and action filled.

9/27/2014 Moby Dick Herman Melville, 1851

This is an excellent book written by an author little regarded at the time. This novel was not popular until after Melville's death, when it flourished in common literature.

The story tells of a man named Ishmael who makes friends with a cannibal, Queequeg, from an imaginary island through a mistake in vacancy of a hotel room. They

then become great friends and decide to serve on a ship known as the Pequod, captained by Captain Ahab. The captain has a festering obsession with the infamous

sperm whale, Moby Dick. This whale is responsible for the death of many sailors and the leg of Ahab himself. This causes the captain to shift from turning the trip into

a simple whale hunting journey into a hunt for the sperm whale. The story tells of their adventures and journey along with nonfictional information about whales and

cytology, and also the meeting of other ships and their experiences with the great whale. It tells the ending of the great story with a lesson to all that explains of the

punishment of greed and obsession if you take these too far in your life. An excellent novel I would suggest to any reader with a large array of vocabulary, mental

stamina, and the loving of a great fictional novel. Melville beautifully ties in fiction, suspense, intrigue, friendship, mystery, nonfiction, and a string of morals. Great

book to read.

9/28/2014 The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones Cassandra Clare, 2004

This book is about a group of people called shadow hunters who fight demons and protect the human world from evil. Clary Fray was raised by her mother in the

mundane world where she knew nothing of this other shadow hunter world until Jace Hernondale came along. Clary is a shadow hunter and so were both of her

parents but her mom kept her away from that world because her father is the “bad guy” who wants to control the demons and create an army out of them instead

of kill them. Her father is looking for the Mortal Cup which Clary’s mom hid when she left the shadow hunting world. This is a book with quite a bit of action in in but

it also has a romance side to it. This is the first book In The Mortal Instruments series. It is the first book out of six.

1/26/2012 The Name of This Book is Secret Pseudonymous Bosch, 2007

A mysterious box labeled “The Symphony Of Smells”, a dead magician's diary, children with a strange disorder going missing and crazy people wearing gloves seeking

immortality. What more could you want in a book? Pseudonymous Bosch takes you on a wild and wacky adventure following characters by the name of Cassandra, an

eleven year old self proclaimed survivalist and Max-Earnest, a boy who seems to be unable to stop talking. This book is in a category of its own! If you’re looking for

a good mystery with twists on every page filled to the brim with humor, then this is most definitely the book for you. But beware and read this book at your own risk

because once you know the secret it contains, there is no going back. Now if you choose to read this book, know that you are risking your sanity and possibly your

life. So if you just happen to be reading the book and you happen to see someone nearby wearing white gloves or a car with the words Midnight Sun written on the

side, run because yes, they are out to get you for reading this book. It’s too late for me (yes my curiosity got the better of me and now I’m on the run) but not for

you. I probably shouldn’t have even mentioned the secret because now it’s nagging at you and you want to know what it is. If you want to know so badly then go

5/8/2020 Time Zero Carolyn Cohgan 2016 Action/Adventure

This book is fantastic. From its cultural feats to its amazing storyline, this book has it all. It is a book about a fifteen-year-old girl living in a future alternate Manhattan ruled by extremists. Girls aren't allowed to get an education, and they are inferiors to men. They can't look at men or talk to them unless spoken too. While this is infuriating, it allowed me to appreciate what some women and girls ACTUALLY go through. This fifteen year old girl is about to be sold into a marriage that she will have no control over when she starts to rethink her life and realizes that her life might be a lie. A wild adventure to escape is enthralling the entire time. I sped through the trilogy (this is the first book) in about a week. Mixed in is a romance that is full of ups and downs. The culture of these people will make your teeth clench, and it made me value being an independent young women even more. So, maybe this is more for teen girls than boys (it definitely is), but don't be afraid to give it a try! Highly recommend this!

5/27/2013 Oblivion Road Alex McAulay, 2007

Honestly, I have no idea how to write a review for this because everything I want to say will give it all away. What I can tell you is that Alex McAulay did a great

job with keeping the plot moving so quickly that every time I thought about stopping, something would happen. However, this novel was extremely graphic, with

brutal violence, sexual content, and a bit of profane language, which is kind of ironic because my grandmother bought it for me. So if you are in the mood for something

lighthearted you might not want to read this, but overall it is an exceptionally well written novel and I recommend it.

1/10/2019 Of Mice and Men John Steinbeck, 1937

I recommend the book Of Mice and Men as I found it to be incredibly insightful for its time period, as well as captivating due to its analogizing of the American dream.

Not only does Steinbeck's Novel touch base on his interpretation of the American dream, but it also reveals truths about character’s secret desire to attain it. The depth

this book goes into its characters is phenomenal, and truly expresses some incredibly interesting ideas concerning prejudice, isolation, and several other concepts

common to the era. I ask that anyone who reads it to take a moment to analyze the depth of the metaphors presented throughout the story. The manner by which

Steinbeck captures the characters in animal form is beguiling, and the revelations he supposes about the state of each role was also fantastic. I especially found myself

compelled by the complexity of Lennie and George's relationship, as well as the convictions Steinbeck had regarding the outcome of each characters struggle in regards

to the American dream. Both tear jerking and thoughtful, this book is definitely a classic.

1/31/2012 Paper Towns John Green, 2008

Paper Towns is a great read for any teen. It follows Quentin Jacobsen in his senior year of high school as he chases after his elusive dream girl. You will also

be introduced to his somewhat odd family and entertaining friends. His thoughts reflect his intelligence as well as what seems to be the mind of the average

teenage guy. The book has many quirky twists and also gives you incentive to stop and think about the true meaning and image of pretty much everything and

everyone around you. To be able to enjoy this book you have to be willing to dig deeper into the significance each word holds. Although it is a wonderful book,

you have to be mature enough to be able to withstand the humor of an teenage guy.

Paper Towns is the story of Quentin “Q” Jacobsen in the end of his senior year of high school. He and his neighbor Margo Roth Spiegelman, who is constantly told to

be beautiful, go on an adventure in the middle of the night doing pranks; it was the best night of Q’s life. But the next day, everything changed. Over the next few

weeks he found out who he was, as well as the Margo he hadn’t really ever known. I would recommend this to anyone who likes a good mystery or adventure. It’s a

beautifully written coming-of-age story, and the attention to detail makes you feel like you’re part of the story. It’s the kind of book that really makes you think, about

yourself, the characters, and the message. It’d be great for a literary analysis, which is what I did. All the way to the very last line, I was entertained and inspired.

I recommend the book Paper Towns. Paper Towns is an interesting story about a boy named Quentin and a girl named Margo. Quentin and Margo had known each other when they were young because of a pretty traumatic incident in the woods. By the time high school came around they reunited and became friends again. Margo goes missing and no one knows where she had gone. Before she left home, she left hints about where she went. Quentin then desperately tries to find Margo by following these clues on a long journey. The ending is not satisfying in the slightest, i was very disappointed and angry about it. I still very enjoyed the story very much though. It was very intriguing and entertaining. It left me on the edge of my seat many times. It was a very good book and have no doubt that you will love it just as much, if not even more than I did.

1/10/2018 Passenger Alexandra Bracken, 2016

This book is by far the best I have ever read. I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys traveling or anyone who wants to travel, and anyone who loves a

good adventure. This book is about two people, Nicholas (a slave from the 1800s) and Etta (a violin prodigy from present-day New York), who embark on a time

traveling adventure to find a device that can save the world. The author, Alexandra Bracken, wrote this book beautifully, in that the book constantly switches

perspectives between the two characters, and I thought that was pretty interesting. One of the things I love most about this book is that as Nicholas and Etta

are time traveling, they are exposed to new cultures and people. I thought it was so cool that it compared things that happened in the past to things currently

happening today. This book also has some romantic elements, which makes it an even better book to read. This great book had me hooked from the start, and

I would easily give it five stars.

2/3/2016 Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief Rick Riordan 2005 Action/Adventure Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning

Thief has been my favorite book since it was read to me as a little kid. Don’t mistake the simplicity for dryness, though. Even though it’s a relatively easy read,

the story is still a fast paced book that combines action and mythology. The story is about a regular teenager, Percy Jackson, who always seems to be at the

wrong place at the wrong time. Eventually, he finds out that these strange happenings are caused by monsters, gods, and other mythological creatures hidden

from the mortal world. After learning his long-lost father is actually Poseidon, Percy finds refuge in Camp Half-Blood, and learns he has to complete a quest to

calm all of the gods and monsters down before a an argument blows up into a full-fledged war. Also, the book surpasses the page minimum at 377 pages. And

if you like the book, Rick Riordan has written many other books along the lines of teenagers trying to survive a world full of mythology. I’d recommend this book

to anyone who wants an entertaining, action-packed book.

1/8/2019 Ms. Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children Ransom Riggs,2011

This story is about a teenage boy who had a grandfather who connected with magical people and later he becomes entangled with them as well. It is very exciting

to see all of the characters and their amazing powers such as flying, invisibility, and controlling bees. This book is a great representation of symbolism in many

different aspects of the characters and situations. It is also very exciting and keeps the readers on their toes by introducing shocking events every couple of chapters

such as deaths or the introduction of new characters. It is very interesting to see how the characters change from beginning to end, the children form a closer bond,

and how the plot becomes more intense as the story goes on. The book is very magical and lends a lot to the imagination for interpretation with many monsters and

children with special abilities. It is also amazing to see the family-like connection between all of the children that live together in this secluded and mythical place. This

book is a great read if you’re looking for an action packed and riveting story line!

1/8/2019 The Royal Ranger John Flanagan, 2013

Calling the 12th and final book in the Ranger’s Apprentice series astonishing is simply an understatement. The book follows the end days of Will Treaty, the greatly

now become the master of his own apprentice. Will’s days have become defined by sorrow over a terrible tragedy that left him broken and alone. Acting as the mentor

of a young child starts out difficult, but soon gives him a method to heal. If you have read the previous books in the series, then it won't be a surprise when this one

pulls you in and keeps you locked in place wanting to read more. One of my favorite things about The Royal Ranger is that you develop a great feel and attachment

for the characters. Everyone is truly human, with unique emotions and personality, and it reinforces the great story that has steadily developed book after book. Every

character has matured or fundamentally changed since the start of the series. I absolutely recommend recommend this amazing book to anyone interested in

2/3/2016 S. (Ship of Theseus) J. J. Abrams, 2013

This book is very unique in the fact that there are multiple plot lines going on at once. The first is the story of the book itself and then the people that write

comments off to the side who are trying to figure out the mystery of the writer of the book. The comments are in different colors and must be read in a certain

order which is: dark blue and black, red and green, purple and red, black and black. The handwriting is different for both people so it will be easy to distinguish

and this way if you follow the color order it is in chronological order along with the story. It’s an incredibly fascinating book that can get overwhelming with the

various newspaper, encoders, papers, comments, and then the actual book to read but it is such a fun journey to follow about a man at sea and conspiracies.

Romantic in small ways but plenty of adventure and drama.

book, Agnes reveals some secrets that consequently lead to trouble for Lou. Then, Lou starts to take care of an old woman who lives next door to the Gopniks,

Margot De Witt, and learns about Margot’s career in fashion. Margot then moves out, but gives Lou her wardrobe which influences Lou to start her own clothing

agency. The book then ends with Lou beginning her own clothing store, and deciding to permanently live in New York. I would recommend this book because of

This is a very interesting book that has a high level of adrenaline-pumping action. It will keep you guessing until the very end. It has a mixture of action,

mystery and a bit of romance, but nothing sappy. It is a little lengthy. Almost every chapter has a surprise twist in it that will hook you into finishing it.

Warning: This book contains language, brutal murders, and violence.

1/8/2019 The Testing Joelle Charbonneau, 2013

I would recommend the Testing because it is a thrilling adventure story of a sixteen year old girl named Cia Vale and how she has to prove herself to be a future

leader in this dystopian society. The author uses vivid imagery to show how they have attempted to restore this war torn world. The book shows how nations

could not agree with each other and what a nuclear holocaust would look like if it happened to our world. This book also show the struggle of making decisions

that could change everything you know and whether you can trust the people around you or not. This book shows the struggle of a teenage girl who has to fight to

survive in this dystopian society knowing not what is happening with her family while she is away or her friends who also participate in the testing she worries to

much about others and needs to be more careful about herself in the thrilling first installment of this trilogy.

1/10/2018 Treasure Island Robert Louis Stevenson, 1882 Treasure Island, by Robert Louis Stevenson, is a great book, full of action, adventure, suspense, and the like. It is a classic pirate story, and a lot of the quotes

(like, “swing all, say I”, and, “Fifteen men on the Dead Man's Chest, Yo-ho-ho, and a bottle of rum!”) are instantly recognizable, even though many would not recognize

their origin. A lot throughout the book, it mentions specific sailing terms, and this may seem daunting, but I do not know very much about sailing, and it did not make

very much of a difference, as I enjoyed these parts nonetheless. The best part of the book, however, was, in my opinion, the amount of classic piracy one would expect

from such a classic pirate novel. There was all the treasure hunting, backstabbing, sea-shanty-singing, and other assorted pirate things you could ever need. All in all, it

was a fantastic book and I would recommend it to anyone who likes classic books or pirate adventures.

1/10/2018 Trenton Cormac McCarthy, 2008 The Road is a truly disturbing book; it is absorbing and completely harrowing. Simply because it shows us how a man could act given the right circumstances; it’s a

terrifying concept because it could also be a true one. I do not like the book because it isn’t a book that gives you any answers, you have to put the pieces together

and presume. For whatever reason, be it nuclear war or environmental collapse, the world has gone to the gutters. It is a wasteland of perpetual grayness and ash.

Very little grows anymore, and the air itself is toxic. The survivors are made ill by their surroundings, physically, mentally and spiritually. They struggle to survive in

the world that tries to kill them. Civilization has completely collapsed, but its remnants remain: the roads remain.

1/10/2018 Uglies Scott Westerfeld, 2005

Uglies by Scott Westerfeld is an amazing Action/ Adventure story. It is based on a totally different society in the future, where people can get surgery once they turn

16 to make them “pretty”. Tally Youngblood is an ugly waiting to be turned pretty when she turns 16, but things do not go as planned. She soon meets Shay, also an

ugly, who does not see the point in being turned into a pretty. Shay runs away to a place called The Smoke and Tally is forced to find her and expose where she has

been hiding with the other Uglies who ran away to live away from society, or she will never get turned pretty. There is a big cliffhanger at the end of the book, but don’t

worry because there are three other books in the series (Pretties, Specials, and Extras) after this one. There is many twists and turns in this book, and I guarantee you

will absolutely love it as much as I did.

1/31/2012 Uglies Scott Westerfeld, 2009

If you are looking for an awesome adventure story, then this is the book for you! Even better is that the story is combined into a mystery, making every page

enjoyable. While reading this, I literally could not put it down. It's got great plot twists and intriguing characters. There are one or two deaths that may be

thought of as terrible and sad. Other than that, there are no reasons not to read this! The end is a huge cliff hanger, but it leads to a satisfying sequel. Enjoy!

1/9/2019 White Cargo Stuart Woods, 1988

I would like to recommend White Cargo by Stuart Woods because it provides the reader with excitement throughout the entirety of the book. White Cargo is about a man

named Wendell Catledge that lost his family and the journey he embarks on to find them. The book provides excitement through its action-packed plot filled with many

twists and surprises. The book will keep the reader on the edge of their seat due to the suspense created by the extremely dangerous and peculiar nature of the book’s

environment. Stuart Woods also conveys many important messages during the book through the use of symbolism and other figurative language. An example of the author

using symbolism is through the main character Wendell Catledge. He was gifted a watch from his family and as the story progresses it begins to represent his love for them.

During the book Wendell uses this watch as motivation to remain persistent in his quest of finding his family even when he is beaten down. In short, I recommend this book

because it captures the reader's interest and maintains it throughout the book using excitement, figurative language, and a variety of plot twists.
