Project Management Philosophy:
Tools, organization, and funding can only go so far; the key to successful project management is identifying the right people for the team and effective communication.
Project Development Approach:
I am often working on small teams which allows me to focus on user-centered objectives and outcomes with an agile design model. I am used working with ADDIE in my instructional design projects but have recently been studying Successive Approximation Model (SAM) which I am applying to a new project this fall.
Software & Organization:
I'm adaptable, and generally open to learning to use whatever tool the preexisting team prefers. I have experience with Microsoft Project software and Trello and a hacked-up mess of Excel spreadsheets/Word documents in the workplace. Project tends to be bloated and Trello underpowered and neither deal well with hard-copy documentation that still lingers around most offices. Admittedly, I'm a pen/paper notetaker and I always carry moleskine notebooks around with me for daily notes. However, I am trying to come up with a solution to archive certain things digitally for future reference and easy findability. I am currently working on using a Personal Kanban technique which incorporates Cornell notes, post-it notes, poster boards, the Evernote app, and a moleskin notebook into a part digital, part physical organizational tool that I can access from anywhere. I recently used it to successfully manage a rather large Learning Management System transition project with decent success. It's my happy-medium. I find it is nice to have a visual representation of the work going on in my office for those not involved directly in my projects and reports.
