Coffee Roasting

Description

Did you know that you can roast coffee beans in a popcorn popper? 'Tis true! All you need is the proper type of machine that generates enough force to circulate the beans in the chamber. Turns out I had the perfect specimen collecting dust in a cabinet, just waiting for a new life as a coffee roaster. Green beans are readily available on the Internet, along with plenty of advice on equipment, roasting times, and other details necessary to get started.

When the first shipment of beans arrived in the mail I could hardly contain my excitement. By the next morning, I had roasted my first batch of beans at home in a Cuisinart popcorn popper.

The smell was divine and it brewed up into the best cup of coffee I had ever had.

I am finding out quickly that I enjoy the entire process from selecting the beans to roasting them up, to enjoying that first freshly brewed cup. I am also working on perfecting a recipe for coffee extract too.
