Dr Entisar Elsherif

Welcome to My Page مرحبا بكم

I am a Libyan TESOL teacher-scholar and the co-founder of Libya TESOL.

I graduated from the University of Tripoli in 1988. As a graduate of the Faculty of Education's English Language program, I was prepared to teach the English Language at Libyan secondary schools. In 2006, I graduated from Newcastle University, UK, with a master’s degree in Applied Linguistics and TESOL. In May 2017, I graduated from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, USA, with a PhD in English (Composition and TESOL).

I am a passionate TESOLer and a strong believer in the role of TESOL teacher education in achieving peace and social justice in conflict zones. I also believe in the role TESOL plays in empowering English learners to become transformative individuals who are agents of peace, social justice, and positive change.

I love teaching the English language and the US and British cultures as well as World Englishes! I do my best to help my students achieve their goals hoping to empower them as L2 users.

I believe in the power of words. So, my academic interests are mostly related to how to develop my students' writing and my L2 scholarly writing. Since I am a teacher educator, I am also interested in how to help my student-teachers become effective ESOL teachers as well as help them with their creative and academic writing to have their voice heard.

As an ESOL teacher/educator, I take the responsibility of my professional development seriously. Thus, I always look for opportunities that would help me advance as an ESOL teacher and a teacher-scholar.
