June 13, 2017 - Trees Planted in Reserve

posted Jun 13, 2017, 1:58 PM by EHT NatureReserve   [ updated Jun 13, 2017, 1:59 PM ]

The Nature Reserve Committee is very pleased to announce that over 240 mature trees have been planted throughout the Nature Reserve and Arboretum/Environmental Learning Center. See the photographs below for the various varieties of trees planted. This project was made possible at no cost to the Township as part of the state’s "No Net Loss Program" to make up for the trees lost from the Garden State Parkway expansion. The completion of the project was made possible through coordinated efforts of Jen Heller, of the Planning Office of Vince Polistina and Associates, Michael Angerman of Angerman Landscaping and personnel from our very own Department of Public Works. We anticipate that these improvements will enhance the beauty and enjoyment of the EHT Nature Reserve Park for years to come. We are looking for Friends of the Park and volunteers to help maintain the trees to assure they thrive. Please contact us if you are interested.

The Egg Harbor Township Parks and Recreation Department, along with the Municipal Alliance coordinated the Statewide 2nd Annual Hooked on Fishing Not On Drugs Free Youth Fishing Challenge hosted by the NJDEP Division of Fish & Wildlife at the Nature Reserve on June 10, 2017. It was a big success as over 30 children and parents came out to participate for a few hours to enjoy the sun and fun at the Nature Reserve.  Many new comers to the park had a great time and will be back. The Reserve Committee would like to see this event become an annual tradition.

Successful Clean-Up Day

posted May 8, 2017, 2:30 PM by EHT NatureReserve   [ updated May 9, 2017, 2:23 PM ]

Thanks to Coach Kevin Stetser and the EHT High School Football team for working so hard on "Community Cleanup Day" at the EHT Nature Reserve.  On April 29, 2017, they pulled out over a dozen huge bags of trash, several old tires, and large scrap metal pieces.  They also raked trails clear, and cleaned out an entire new section of the Nature Reserve for development.  They displayed a great attitude and a lot of dedication, and had fun with each other while doing it.  What a great asset to the community!  Thanks again guys!
