Recent Vandalism

posted Apr 2, 2018, 7:35 PM by EHT NatureReserve   [ updated Apr 2, 2018, 7:35 PM ]

With much regret, the EHT Nature Reserve Committee has come to learn that there are individuals who do not share our appreciation for the nature, well-being and peace of mind which one can find at the Reserve. We have implemented policies for catch and release fishing, leasing of dogs and carry in-carry out trash disposal. Unfortunately, inappropriate behavior, including some criminal, tarnish our mission of creating a unique, first-class facility that we can all be proud of in Egg Harbor Township.

As revealed in the pictures below, individuals have recently vandalized the bike rack by the Zion Road parking lot, cut down a tree in the Arboretum, and spray-painted numerous items through the trails. There is an abundance of garbage left throughout the facility, dogs left to roam disturbing wildlife and other visitors as well as the use of motorized vehicles, all prohibited in the park. We asked that people use their common sense, be courteous and respectful for your fellow citizens and the environment to keep the Reserve a special place.

New Benches

posted Apr 2, 2018, 7:31 PM by EHT NatureReserve   [ updated Apr 2, 2018, 7:32 PM ]

In case you haven’t noticed, we have added three new park benches with different vantage points to enjoy your time at the Reserve. We picked out a special spot to emphasize their message to “Sit awhile, catch your breath, enjoy the view.” I hope they agree. Thank you for the generous contributions made by our Friends of the Park. If you are interested in making a financial *tax-deductible* contribution, let us know.

No Committee Hibernation

posted Apr 2, 2018, 7:29 PM by EHT NatureReserve   [ updated Apr 2, 2018, 7:29 PM ]

Though Mother Nature’s cold weather may have caused us to lose some trees, the Reserve Committee has not been hibernating. With the assistance of the EHT Department of Public Works, Boy Scouts, and volunteers. The Nature Reserve has improved landscaping, added park benches, split rail fencing and a trail map to increase your enjoyment at the Reserve. The US Dept. of Agriculture will be planting a variety of species on-site to test their ability to reclaim former land scarred by mining operations. More improvements and activities are in store.

It was a very active winter at the Nature Reserve, presenting a wonderland of activities and pure enjoyment. Sledding, skating and exploration of the snowy trails were only part of the fun and beauty found only at the Reserve. As the seasons change, so do the activities, wildlife and fauna. So come out and see what you’ve been missing.
