Started to play for Newland CC in 1960 until 1972 after playing reguarly at school . Progressed to play at Smith & Nephew CC where I worked in their a Printing Dept. Returned to play for Newland, as a pace bowler, continuing until 1980, when I finally hung up my boots! Joined the ERCU&SA the following year, standing mainly in the East Yorkshire Cup Competition and the defunct Amateur League, as well as some ER Pennant Alliance & Humberside Federation games.
These competitions sadly folded in 1998, to set up the current East Yorkshire Alliance, where I umpire today, this being my 33rd summer of officiating!
Highlights have been many Cup ties and Finals over the years, then officiating with Malcolm Ripley at Headingley, in 2002, the match being the English Schools National under 13's KO Final.
