“Mr. E. Hooper, coroner, held an inquest yesterday at the SWAN INN, respecting the death of Timothy Marshall (69), boiler maker, formerly residing at No 85, Oldbury Road.
Ann Maria Hunt said the deceased was her father, and lived with her. On Sunday last he had been drinking all day, and returned home about 10.30 in a state of intoxication. He went to bed shortly afterwards, but got up again and fell down the stairs. His head was badly injured, and he remained unconscious until death, which took place on Wednesday.
In reply to the coroner, witness said deceased was a man of intemperate habits, and had fallen down stairs several times before.
The jury returned a Verdict of Accidental Death.”
