My first cousin, four times removed

When Elizabeth married Joseph Beard in 1863, her name appears on the certificate as Elizabeth Stanger, and she is named as a widow. It is possible, even likely, that she was previously married to Phillipe Jacques Stenger, her Aunt Ellen's widower, although as yet I have found no record of the marriage*. In the 1861 census, an Elizabeth Stenger, a widow, is named as the stepmother of Barbara Stenger, Philippe & Ellen's daughter. Her birth date is, however, given as 1825. It is possible, even likely, that this is Ellen's sister Elizabeth, although I have found no record of her marriage to Phillipe. It's confusing.

* I have now found the marriage of an Elizabeth Dunshee to Phillipe Jacques Stenger - in 1857 in Philadelphia, USA; which Elizabeth Dunshee it is, I have no idea!
