My Great Great Great Great Grandfather!
In the 1851 census, John gave his age as 70, ie born about 1780. When he died in 1855, his age was given as 84, which would give a birthdate of about 1770. The earlier date would mean that he was pushing 60 when his last child was born in 1830, so I'm leaning towards the latter date as being more likely. Perhaps whoever filled in the death certificate was given a birth year and was really bad at Maths...
