Tip: ASH TREE TREATMENT -- April is among us and it is time for the annual treatment of your Ash trees with Bayer Advanced Tree & Shrub Insect Control. The Bayer product can be found at Lowe's, Wal-Mart and most plant nurseries in the area. The soil drench should be applied about mid to late April around the base of the trees. Follow directions carefully to mix.
Tip:Mulching tree rings - Maintain the health of your landscape trees to prevent disease or insect infestations pull mulch away from the trunks of your trees. This simple step will also prevent water damage and rot to the protective layer of bark at the base of the trees. Mulch depth should be no more than 2-4 inches to prevent suffocation of tree roots. The root zone needs oxygen! Maintain that depth and add mulch as needed. Top dressing (or adding a very thin layer) can add enough new mulch to refresh appearance of tree rings. Maintaining healthy trees is simple, losing trees is costly!
Tip: We received a document from the City of Carmel on how to properly spread / maintain mulch around trees. Check it out here
