HENRY WALLER, agriculturist and grazier, "Sea View Farm," American River, Kangaroo Island, is the second son of the late Mr. James Waller, of Rapid Bay, where he was born in the year 1855. At the close of his schooldays he was engaged in various farming occupations for some time, and, in 1885, began business on his own account at Salt Lagoon, where he rented land from the Government.
After farming this property for about seven years, Mr. Waller came, in 1892, to "Sea View Farm," which he leases under the Crown, and now works the two properties in conjunction with one another. He grows some fine crops of barley, to which the climate and soil are peculiarly suited, and runs a flock of about 400 sheep of the merino type, meeting with considerable success in every department of his business.
On account of the long distance which separates his estates from any township, Mr. Waller is necessarily cut off from those public interests which would otherwise demand a portion of his time and attention; his energies, consequently, are confined to his private business affairs, in which he is assisted by his youngest son, Arthur.
In 1876 he was married to Emma Jane, eldest surviving daughter of the late Mr. George Miller, of Rapid Bay, and there were fourteen children of the marriage, of whom seven sons and six daughters survive.
