FRANK CLAXTON ADDISON, manager of the Union Bank of Australia, Limited, Kingscote, Kangaroo Island, is a native of South Australia, having been born at Middleton, in this State, in the year 1876. He received his education at the Adelaide Collegiate School, and at the close of his scholastic career immediately joined as a junior the staff of the Union Bank of Australia, at the Orroroo branch. He steadily worked his way up in the service, passing through all grades, until he received promotion successively to the posts of teller and accountant. After being entrusted with various responsible positions, Mr. Addison was appointed manager of the Bank's branch at Kingscote, in May, 1905. During the period that has elapsed since the date of his arrival, up to the moment of writing, affairs on the island have progressed by leaps and bounds. Through the summer months especially Kingscote has become a busy resort of holidaymakers, trade has thriven, and all business houses have assumed greater importance. Mr. Addison has proved himself a factor of importance in the commercial life of the place, and associates; himself with all matters of public moment, displaying particularly a keen interest in local sports.
