We had a meeting with Ruben Puentedura to discuss ways he could support our project.

Ruben's Learning with Game Slideshow
Original grant plan had for 3 participants from CSI to attend a 3 day game institute he was planning. The workshops were cancelled, so we are pursuing using those funds for direct consultation and PD from Ruben to our project.
Excellent meeting. He provided lots of insight on history of initiatives that have laid important groundwork to the goals we have set (including his work with Seymour Papert, and Alan Kay, etc). He made lots of connections between individual and specific challenges we had outlined, insights from past initiatives, and our project goals. It is obvious that working with Ruben would be very helpful.
We decided to start a document to outline bullets of possible connections between our goals, resources, ideas, and ideas.
We have also decided to start with a concrete professional development opportunity on December 7 that will focus on Game Development and Language Arts type learning goals. (specifically the potential for using Interactive Fiction and Game Narrative to meet language arts learning goals).
Participants will
understand the concepts of interactive fiction and game narrative
experience examples of different types of game narrative
embedded

create a list of added opportunities to connect interactive fiction and game narrative that extend BEYOND current grade expectation, skills building, and curriculum in the language arts
Start planning future challenges and learning opportunities
Ruben will create resources and materials that will be pre-requisite reading and experience (i.e. game play) to the PD Day.
Lucie and George will work with Ruben to come up with a description of the day (save the date) to use to start recruiting. To be available before November 3 to distribute at Vermont Fest.
Lucie and George will work on securing I-Devices to be used by participants for Pre-requisite learning exeperiences and load those with Podcast, reading, and games.
