"Tolerance is the positive and cordial effort to understand another's beliefs, practices, and habits withouth necessarily sharing or accepting them"---Joshua Lieberman

A message from the Editor,Founder and President csaccac Inc;

Connect & Share: People,Places,Things,Resumes,Jobs,Consumer Alerts,Weather Alerts,Buy,Sell,Trade and a lot of other task, these days anyone with an internet connection could instantly post a statusup dateto allthelatestsocialapps. 365 days of shopping on one of those days,Im at my place of residency navigating through the maze of Social media and Social Networking, when suddenly Im reminded that Spring has arrived. As I look around, all of the signs of Spring time has come to full view, warm weather, change of fashion, new receipes, and new lipstick colors. At forty-something,I tolerate a little more of certain people, fashion, foods, tech gadgets, events, actions, and other things a little bit more each year than previous years as a form of nonviolent protest, social conformity and compliance. Speaking of building up tolerance,as a teen I tolerated a lot stuff because I feared being punished, picked on,and hated by my peer group,at the age of thirteen, specifically, middle school age, every girl and guy wants to be liked and wants to fit in with the "in-crowd..."Hold on a minute, there's nothing wrong with your screen,____you didn't stumble upon this page by accident or click the wrong link, this is a message from the Editor of the csaccac eNewsletter because you (the consumer and shopper) matter, I've written a message just for you. In fact,I write different message each month on a variety consumer topics. For those of you new to the chat____Don't touch that mouse,Stick with me,Stay on the page,Im logged on but I won't be signed in for long,I promise not to take up too much of your time, because I know you'vegot otherSocial engagements (Facebook,Twitter,MySpace,Pintrest,Instagram,LinkedIn,Wordpress,YouTube...) I get the gist. Soooo__ Savor the flavor and Get Twice the Luv,and a warm Welcome. As if too many Thanks is never enough,I feel same about welcoming new readers, new members and new visitors,Welcome,Welcome,Welcome to the csaccac eNewsletter,I hope you enjoy this issue of the csaccac eNewsletter,at the same time,I hope that you find your way back to the csaccac eNewsletter each month. And as always ,much Luv,Pink Luv to each returning member and visitor,I write these notes for each of you and all of the conscious caring consumers .Truthfully, it really means a lot to know that there's other consumers and shoppers who share similar interest.

And in all honesty, you motivate me ,you drive me and you make me to want to bring the best in customer service and consumer news. An amazing journey, one that has just begun__ I'm delighted, elated and pleased you've found your way to our monthly chat___soooo much has happened since the last chat,I can't tell it all but I do have to keep it to minimum(space requirements). Packed full of events and activities, themonth of March kept me very much engaged with Social media,as I promoted National Women's History month, prepared for April 15th tax deadline,Invited new connections to connect with me on LinkedIn,sorted through emails, updated Facebook and Twitter accounts, brush up on Va notary laws and rules and search for a product of the month that as of today I havent announced. Eventhough,I write down my to-do-list and backed it up on my SmartPhone__ it never fails that I have to pray "To accept the things I cannot change, and the courage to changethose things within my grasp". At the beginning of this Editor note ,I began the chat with a topic Im all to familiar with tolerance,a word that I have equated over the years to mean acceptance. On numerous days,I've had to learn to toleratemy work conditions, living conditions, economic conditions, who I am and what I stand for even when to tolerate those conditions or situations didn't help to make me feel confident or feel good about the skin-im-in. Learning to be tolerant of myself, other writers, and, authors, as inspring Editor, straight forwardly speaking, it has been a monumental task,a huge project, and a methodical process, within a constantly evolving industry with a lot ups and downs.

A Five Letter Word: Yes,I knew that I would have my hands full with a ton of work ahead of me to be written, read, proofread, revised, spell checked, and edited. An inspiring Editor,I knew it could be done,it had been done so many times before__apparently,I had a hang up,a fire wall, abrain freeze, aswellas a long list of do's and dont's plus stereotypes trapped in my subconscious. How could I ever get beyond the same popsicle mold when popsicles come in so many different sizes, colors, and shapes,__ and what about the freezer burn from letting the popsicle stay in the frig for months because I wanted to try my hands at something else ? All of these questions bouncing around in the hemisphere like a bad television series waiting for syndication. Then, the number one question pops up___ standing out in forefront of the sea questions I conjured up,listed, evaluated, and pondered upon on the path to being an Editor that simply stated "Do I have what it takes to be an awarding Editor?" Outrageously truthful, even when I hadn't been thinking about awards or accolades,I had to ask. When in fact the truth of matter had been at that particular moment,I was thinking about the thousands of consumers and shoppers I could help and influence with my lessons, experiences and words .Truthfully,I had already exceed my limitswaybefore deciding to become an Editor and publishing the first monthly csaccac Newsletter,in the words of Eleanor Roosevelt,"You must do the things you think you cannot do" if that makes any sense at all,"The only sense that is common in the long run is the sense of change__and we all instinctively avoid it ". My saving grace towards end of the day has been to find meaning in all that I do this has kept me sane and focused. At the beginning stages of the csaccac Newsletter,I'll admit,I questioned during the creation of the Newsletter "What on God's green earth would possess me to want to be an Editor or a Consumer Reporter ?" On the whole, openly speaking ,the experience___the entire process has often felt surreal. Reflecting upon the past four years,I've experienced moments that Ive been speechless, situations I couldn't explain, days when I looked crazy, days when I felt crazy, I've had weeks when I didnt know where the process would lead me ,I've been at my wits end, Ive had the wind knocked out of me,and I've watched others excel and surpass at the one thing that keeps me up lateat night,___ and wakesme up in the morning. Yeah, thosefiveletter words and not so dirty words,E-D-I-T-O-R,Editor. Four years later,a book,a blog, several well written articles, and Im still not convinced that it's out of my grasp or range. A wet-n-wild rideduring thesummer months, a blanket full of snow, lots of hot chocolate, including frozen hands and toes to show for defiance, during the winter months, for the better half of the journey,I'd wouldn't trade the experience for anything in the world except for a pair of insulated leather gloves during the winter months and a hot bikini bottom during the summer months. Somewhere totally immersed in the idea of being an Editor,to make a long story short ,the one half that remains missing__well,that'sthehalfof thejourney,Ikicked into survival mode. Certainly,Im not obsessing over it,although,it's stuck to my brain like a sticky note,Editor,Survival mode, along with Consumer Reporter,Social Connector,Free Lance Writer, Author, and Hot bikini bottom. With a long list of obstacles, setbacks hurdles, and reason after reason why I should of threw my hands in the air, whenI could of said Im not writing for anyone,Im not writin one more word,a greater presence took over, and I chose not to be a victim. From the moment, I made a split second decision to not be a victim, from that point on,I didn't give- up,I didn't give- in______,togethere,toarriveatthisdestination,the fourth year of the csaccac eNewsletter and Newsletter, I had to put aside any lingering anger, resentment, bitternness, and discord towards people, work and life in general. Consciously,I chose to take the focus off of what I hadn't accomplished in lifeatforty-something.Instead,Ichose to consciouslyfocus and tunnel my energy on the lessons I'd learned from my experiences and how those experiences could help to improve livesaswellashelp othersto reach their goals. Since becoming the Editor of the csaccac eNewsletter and Newsletter,I've covered an array topics from Getting Out of Debt, to OwningPink,to Celebrating Traditions,to Creating A Realistic You,to Becoming A Better Shopper. Veritably, it's a tremendous honor, and endeavor worth pursuing each month, the opportunity to chat with you about social topics that affects all consumers.

Press Send: For instance, recently,I received through one of my email accounts an email informing me that Hotmail.com had converted to Microsoft Outlook.com. If you're like me,or remotely exude habits similar to frequently updating post or constantlychecking emails,or even if you think you have all the tendenciesof an email addict, regardlessof thehabitor tendency, the truth is thousands of consumers and shoppers swear by their emails, therefore, any small or major changeconcerning anemail or emailssendsred flags.Emails, theage of thee-mail (electronic mail),remarkably, emails has survived the sms craze, and thetext messaging craze. Emails, for many years had been the preferred way to communicate with officepersonnel, contact local businesses, and a quickest way to createa buzz in themarketing world. Shortly after the email phenomenon began to catch on with consumers and shoppers, some employers found it cost efficient as well as convenient to accept coverletters and resumed via email. Of course, consumers and shoppers at the beginning of the email phenomenon had to learn e-mailettiquette for the work place including how to address email recipients. Today,e-mail senders and account holders can't scroll through their emails without being on alert for scams ,spam, identity theft and hackers. A powerful tool of communication,an internet user with an email account could send an email anywhere throughout the world. E-mail safety remains a big consumer safety issue among American consumers and shoppers because no one wants to open a email with a virus that wipeouts or completely erases all their files. So,youcan imagehow I felt and how happy I was to hear that Hotmail.com had converted to MicrosoftOutlook.com withouterasing allmy emails. Apparently, the folks at Hotmail.com wanted to make the transition a smooth process without a bunch of noise from email account holders. Very courteously, the folks at Hotmail.com took the time to save all my emails as well as create a folder for older emails, glad to know I wasn't hacked. One thing Ive learned within these four year,as an Editor, and a Consumer Reporter, Consumer news could be hiding in your spam,or staring at you in an email. In addition to consumer news hiding in emails, Ive also learned that Consumer news could be waiting to be exposed in some of the most frequently visited social apps and public places.Proceed with Caution:Tragically, whileI was preparing this months newsletter a bomb was detonated at the Boston marathon,in Boston Massachusetts. Honestly, these day I frequently feel forlon, disconcerted,at lost of words,I get apprehensive, reticent, and reluctant to SocialNetwork at the report of such well planned acts crimes, especially as a Social Connector because I dont know who could be a terrorist,or plotting a terrible crime. Without a doubt,it has become a part of lifeI learned to tolerateto think Safety First when performing daily task. Despite the many efforts I ve attempted to go without a to-do-list,at some point during the week I start writing stuff down. It's not unusual for me to have this long to-do-list each month and everything on it could be #1 then I have to pray to remember it all. It really does makes it hard for me to walk outdoorin the morning and in the afternoon, first I have to check everything on the to do list then think quick Safety First,it's absurd. Even more absurd, the time it takes me to get dress in the morning plus I have to remember to feed the cat and the dog at forty-something. If the bombing at the Boston marathon wasnt a big enough wake up call for you, the Texas fertilization plant explosion probably made you feel like America has only thirteen original states Las Vegas Nevada,Colorado Springs,Chicago,North Carolina,Ohio,Utah,Indiana,Delware,Tennessee,Alaska,Wyoming,Connecticut,Illinois,Illinois,Illinois, all jokes a side, public safety continues be a concern for a myriad of American after the 9/11 attacks in 2001.,Sadly, it is altering the way American consumers and shoppers network and do business across the United State.

Resumes Win Interviews, References Win Job Offers By Heidi M. Allison, Managing Director, www.allisontaylor.com

Inquiring minds want to know, and no minds are more inquiring than those about to hire you. Rest assured, you will be investigated. As a rule of thumb, the better the job and the higher the pay, the tougher the screening process. If you are up for a good job at a visible company, your references and past employers will be checked in great detail. Your list of references is simply the beginning of the investigation a prospective employer will conduct. When a prospective employer has completed the first round of interviews and you are among the top candidates, its next logical step is to check your references and interview those individuals to whom you reported. Are you certain these individuals will seal the deal for you, or will they blow it away? If you are like most people, you probably haven't given your references much thought. Instead, you have focused on your resume, interviewing skills, networking, and what to wear to the interview. Now the focus shifts. Your biggest concern should be the quality of your references and recommendations from past employers, because they can make or break your chances. About half of all references that get checked range from mediocre to poor, so it is very possible that the great job you lost out on at the last moment had nothing to do with your skill level. It could have had more to do with what a reference or past employer said about you. So, if you are concerned that someone, somewhere, might be giving you a bum rap, you are probably right. That's a frightening scenario when your livelihood is at stake. Here is a sampling of the damaging comments HR people and line managers hear when they check references: "Our company policy prohibits us saying anything. We can only verify dates of employment and title." Then the reference goes on to say something like, "Check his references very, very carefully." "Are you certain he gave my name as a reference?" "After we settle our lawsuit..." "Let me see what the paperwork says I am able to give out regarding _______." "Is he still in this field?" References and past employers won't call and warn you that they are not going to be complimentary. The reference situation is ever changing and therefore very volatile because of shifting company policies (not that many employees choose to follow them anyway), new employees in HR departments, new laws governing references, and company liability for giving references. You are well advised to take more control of your career momentum by finding out what every potential reference will say about you. If the odds hold, as they will, those references will range from stellar to negative; yet when you know what someone is going to say about you, you can pass on your best references with greater confidence. You will also have the opportunity to stop references from saying things that are not true or inaccurate. Increasing Your Chances of a Good Reference. Here are some general rules of thumb to maximize the tone and accuracy of your references. 1. Make sure your records are correct. Occasionally an interviewee looks bad because his former HR department did not have the same job date and title information in his file as he did on his resume. Data entry or communications errors are not unusual, so check with your HR department to ensure that their records correspond to yours. Conflicting data will be perceived as a big negative to a prospective employer. 2. Maintain active and positive relationships with your references. Stay in touch over the phone or over coffee. Keep the reference up-to-date about your progress, and make sure you have the most up-to-date information about them. If the reference's title (or name) has changed, or if they've left their position and you've provided old information to the prospective employer, it doesn't look good. 3. Advise a reference about an important opportunity. To avoid burning out your references, you don't need to call about every single job opportunity. However, if a particular position is very important to you, call the reference and give them details about what the company may be looking for. 4. Know reporting relationships. Even though you've given the senior vice president's name as a reference, the prospective employer may resort to calling the director you reported to because she can't reach the senior VP. Even though you have not given that person's name as a reference, it is on the application that you probably filled out. You may want to advise your former boss about the potential for a reference check and explain what the company is looking for. 5. Know your company's policy. Although federal law restricts reference information, some states now allow more extensive disclosure. Know which regulations and policies govern your company. In addition, be aware that some employees will break company policy. Make sure that works in your favor by checking with references to gain an understanding of what they might say. 6. Don't rely on relatives or letters of recommendation. You are well advised not to let Uncle John regale a prospective employer about your antics as a youth. Also, although letters of recommendation can be helpful, information such as titles and even names can change over time. Make sure that the information on your letter of recommendation is correct by contacting the reference periodically. 7. Use a reference-checking service. If you want help in providing good references or if you find that you are losing too many opportunities after several interviews with an organization, you might want to commission a professional reference-checking service. Check to ensure that the service has the professional and legal personnel that can develop a strategic use of your references. Typical service fees range from $59 to $99 per reference checked, depending on level of job position being sought.

    • 11.Definitely optimize your 160 character "One Line Bio" which appears on the upper right of your Twitter profile page. It does not have to be a bio, it can be an interesting message or statement if you prefer. It can include a link (perhaps to a Twitter index or sitemap page). In most cases the goal of the bio line is to get the reader to think you are "follow worthy." Make it real, make it fun, make it interesting, make it YOU. Literally make your bio in to Twitter "follow bait." If you are fishing for followers, the better the bait, the more followers you'll catch. Tips #12, 13, 14 and 15 all focus on optimizing your Twitter profile. You can GRADE your profile here: http://twitter.grader.com/ and if you like, you can see my grade here:http://twitter.grader.com/dhollings (Obviously, this is not a perfect tool, but it might provide some insight.)

    • 12.Try to keep your Twitter "Following / Follower" ratio balanced. If a potential follower sees you are following 1532 people and only 32 are following you; rightfully or wrong, some people might make assumptions you've not washed your socks in months. You can prune your Followers and Followings easily within your Twitter account or if your numbers get big try services like Friend or Follow http://friendorfollow.com

      • .

    • If you are curious WHY folks are jumping ship or stop following you, QWITTER (http://useqwitter.com/) might provide some insight. Qwitter will email you when someone stops following you and notifies you of the post you recently made that might have sent them running for the hills.

    • 13Make your personal picture (icon) a good one - in fact, make it great! Twitter is driven by personalities, so use a picture that expresses the "personality message" you want to get across. Logo's, text, and images without humans or animals are often too business-like and negate the driving social force that propels Twitter.

    • 14.Upload a really interesting BACKGROUND (Twitter wallpaper image) under the "Design" tab. A quick search on Google for "Twitter Backgrounds" "Twitter Wallpaper" or "Twitter Templates" will likely help. Google images may be a good resource forTwitter wallpaper, Twitter template, or Twitter background

      • ideas.

      • You might also try Technorati: "Twitter Backgrounds" "Twitter Wallpaper" or "Twitter Templates

      • "

      • Check out "TweetBacks" for several nice Twitter background templates that are easily customized:http://www.tweetbacks.com/ or if you want to make a Twitter background using Powerpoint or Keynote

      • , more power to you!

      • For a great example: check out this compelling background for the eccentric marketing entrepreneur, Joe Polish, it can be seen here (note the Toll-free number on background): http://twitter.com/jpolish

      • . Joe has significant real life followers in the offline world, but converting those to online followers is a new process he's already seeing great results.

      • Author/Cartoonist, Andrew Mathews, presents another Twitter background idea that connects cartooning and one of his many popular books on happiness, "Follow Your Heart," with the idea to follow Andrew on Twitter. Your background is very important - so make it fun, compelling, or interesting.

      • 15.What do you post? Ah, that's the magical part. Now granted, what you post depends largely on your goals and purpose with Twitter, but in general this is easy... post interesting stuff, preferably related in some way to what you do, who you are, what you (and your followers) are interested in etc. It pays to be interesting to your followers, but it pays more to beinterested in your followers. Twitter is NOT a micro-advertising billboard.

      • 16.When you engage in conversation with others, reference who you're talking to or about in your post by adding their Twitter username in this format: @dhollings

    • 17If you do not answer direct messages, if you do not engage in conversation, if you do not update post regularly, or any other "out of Twitter character" anomaly, that's ok, but make it clear to your followers so they know

    • 19 Add links to interesting stuff (the links will be shortened automatically by Twitter) or you can use redirect services like: SAMPLE RE-DIRECT SERVICES: http://is.gd (very short) http://bit.ly (very short - plus) http://go2468.com (allows custom URLs) http://budurl.com/ (shortens URL plus a marketing nirvana of analytics) http://tweetburner.com/ (gives you click-thru stats) http://mytwittertoolbar.com/ (includes 15+ URL shortening services) ==> Tweet This

    • 20.Instead of sticking to the "What are you doing" question, try answering questions like: What are you thinking about? What has my interest right now? How can I help someone? What can I share? What made me laugh recently? In fact, try thinking Who, What, When, Where, Why, and How. ==> Tweet This

    • 21.If your really famous or even mildly so, you might gain followers that enjoy personal Tweets about the minutia or trivial details of your life: "There's a green fly in my green tea!" However, if you're not so famous you had best think more about what will genuinely help or interest your followers. ==> Tweet This

    • 22.Twitter does not allow images (or videos) directly within the posts, however, people love to see images. An all-text world, even if it's Twitterworld, is rather boring. Either link to images direct (like at Flickr.com), or through your blog, or use an application like TwitPic, Twinkle etc. ==> Tweet This

    • 23.Alternatives ways to provide additional TEXT, images or videos include Rejaw.com, Posterous.com or the highly clever TwitWall (http://twitwall.com/). All of these allow very easy image and video upload, plus you can add additional text if required. Once you're done, just post a Twitter link to your Rejaw. Posterous or TwitWall and you're good to go. Take a look at this example of Twitter Tip #83 posted on TwitWall http://budurl.com/tip83 ==> Tweet This

    • 24.Video specific solutions which integrate with Twitter well (aside from those mentioned above) are Twiddio (http://twiddeo.com/), 12seconds (http://12seconds.tv/) and Seesmic (http://www.seesmic.com/). Of course all the obvious video platforms are easy enough to link as well (YouTube, Viddler, Blip.tv, Ustream.tv, Veoh, Vimeo, Gawkk, Tubemogul.cometc) ==> Tweet This

Customarily,TV and film ratings assist parents, families, consumers and shoppers in making the most condign viewing selection. Educational or Entertaning? In most instances,it's the parent or supervising adult on duty that has the job of choosing what's appropriate to view in the presence of pre teens and teens. Plasma TV,Flat Screen Tv,HDTV,Blu Ray,and PC monitors, it's all about how you choose to look at what's being displayed in front of your teens and guest.Educational,Entertaining,Kid friendly,Violent,Grotesque,Hazardous....as a supervising adult you have the tough job of selecting age appropriate TV shows and movies for your teen as well as their friends. Helpful or Harmful? Most movies, television shows, and TV series that American consumer and shoppers view daily, weekly, and monthly often provides insight into the consumer and shoppers preferences, and viewing habits. Funny or Serious? Viewing movies, watching television shows, renting Dvds, and subscribing to a monthly video providor often requires parents as well as viewers to use common sense and discretion. Kid friendly or Mature Adult Content? Normally with kid friendly TV channels and TV shows parents have to worry the least about nudity and inappropriate language. Although, some kid friendly TV channels and TVshows exhibit bad behavior including extreme sports, parents still have the ability to control and limit viewing if they desire to do so with the assistance of a line of Smart tech gadgets on the consumer market. For the most part, kid friendly TV shows require very little parental supervision. Regardless of the film or TV rating, parents with small children and pre teens should take an active role in the listening and viewing selections of their kid. Quite astonishingly, most of today's Smart Tech gadgets allows parents to set channels, block programs, select apps and create passwords. Since the invention of the television set,American consumers and shoppers has viewed thousands of TV shows and TV series with various ratings. In 1968,the Motion Picture Association of America introduce film ratings. Jack Valenti founded the voluntary film rating system. Seven decades later, film and television continues to shape and define viewer opinion and lives, especially young lives. Because film and TV has such a significant impact on young lives,it's up to parents and supervising adults to set the example for appropriate and inappropriate viewing. To conclude,I listed below a few examples of what parents can do to prevent their kids from viewing inappropriate material at home and away from home.
