Our final stage in the Century Square project is to assess, and possibly refine, our projects. The Land and Property Development students will join us for assessing the projects by performing an analysis of the Sustainability Dividend of the project. They will look at the acquisition cost, the revenue, the operating cost, the energy cost, the social impact, the sensory value, and ultimately the profit. The Construction Science students will continue to address construction cost and construction schedule.
Your role is to provide them with information and make sure that everything is completed. You will need to run your building through an energy analysis program and check such issues as water reclamation, renewable energy sources, and other factors that affect sustainability.
I will provide a format for the final report as a Microsoft Word document.
Note that a single assessment is largely worthless. Assessment is only valuable in comparison to some benchmark. Thus, I advise you to assess the project completely and then modify it to make it better. Assess it again. Add both assessments to the spreadsheet for assessment. do not change the spreadsheet! I expect to combine all of the assessments from the class to see how they all compare and try to identify "winners" such as the most profitable, the most "green", the most socially beneficial, the lowest cost, the best cash flow, and other important indicators.
The assessment tools are on Google Drive at Assessment Methods.
